5. Jake Butt, TE, Michigan

The John Mackey Award winner's — nation's top tight end — rehabilitation from a torn ACL is going well enough that whomever drafts him might not have to wait long to see him on the practice field.

Great value and Kyle gets one of his tight ends... He was the top tight end next to OJ Howard.

We get him I'll forgive the FO with that CJ pick.

Gotta think we look at RB, WR, TE, G, and maybe another DB and Pass Rusher. I'd love love To see us get Lawson, Leggett, Josh Malone, KD Cannon, Marlon Mack, Wayne Gallman...but I could see all of them going before we select

No way all of those guys are gone...too many players and too many differing team needs. Maybe Lawson and Mack but I could see all of the others falling to us.

Funny thing is even if these guys fall there's always the ol taking someone not on these lists haha.

I know right? Got spoiled with the Foster pick. Can't remember the last time they ever actually drafted the 1 player I wanted in a trade up (not once under Baalke).
Desmond King, George Kittle, Adam Jones, Elijah McGuire, Elijah Lee, Elijah Qualls, Stevie Tu'ikolovatu, Ryan Switzer...

Give me Josh Reynolds then I give this draft a A++
Given our history, are most of us seriously interested in taking Jake Butt?

Yeah, I mean, Butt is intriguing, but we seem to have pretty poor results with the whole "draft a talented player that dropped because of injuries" approach.

I think drafting a guy who never was a speed and cut guy with an ACL injury is different than a RB and CB with ACL injuries

Definite yes on Corn Elder. I wouldn't touch Westbrook.

RB Tarik Cohen, Devonte Fields OLB?

Love Cohen, but goodness. I honestly expect him to be about as healthy as Bruce Ellington. Probably would use him mrs as a receiver as opposed to a running back. He's a guy I'd go after in the 7th. I like Fields, but I don't think our new FO does because of effort concerns.

Exactly,

He was the top rated TE in the league with Howard.

We are not talking about a 6 round pick who has an Acl injury. We are talking about the top tight end with Howard. Natural pass catcher

Tank Carradine was a top prospect. But I will say Butt wasn't a speed guy, so who knows.
