Kapri Bibbs shook his head with a small smile on his face.
At the NFL Scouting Combine in February, Bibbs ran the 40-yard dash in 4.67 seconds while battling a toe injury. His unofficial time Wednesday at CSU's pro day was an improved 4.5, but it's still not where Bibbs wants it.
"The last time I ran a 4.5 was in high school as a freshman and sophomore," Bibbs said. "With the injury, it is what it is. I just want to show teams out there that I'm ready to compete."
Official results were not made available from Wednesday's drills at the indoor practice facility on the campus of CSU.
Bibbs says he expects to run in the 4.3 range when healthy, 4.4 at worst. He wasn't able to participate in all the drills because of the turf toe that will take another four or five weeks to heal, but he wanted to show he was willing to fight through it.
"When you go into the NFL, you're going to be banged up," Bibbs said. "Guys play through injuries. I wanted to show (scouts) regardless if my toe is off, on or bent to the side I was going to go out there."
As a sophomore, Bibbs broke Colorado State University's single-season record for rushing touchdowns (31) and was eighth in the nation in rushing yards (1,572). USA Today pro football analysts ranked Bibbs the 16th-best running back in the draft. CBS Sports has Bibbs ranked the 27th-best running back.
There were 35 scouts, with at least one from all 32 NFL teams in attendance at the workout. The only other drills Bibbs participated in were the three-cone shuttle and route-running drills.
Awesome! This was a good move.

Yeah. His career wet hasn't been anything to follow. But coming out of CSU he was a pretty good back
