Prediction Time: Where will we be picking in the 2018 NFL Draft?

Browse 49ers books and videos
We're tied with the Browns for the worst Super Bowl odds in the league. It's always safe to guess more towards the middle, but I can see us winning anywhere from 3 to 8 games this year and picking anywhere from 1st to 16th (I'll go towards the middle and predict we pick 7th). We're one of the worst teams in the league still in terms of talent, but we have a pretty good coach in Kyle Shanahan and we brought in some decent free agents.

I'm hoping we're either worse than I'm expecting and end up having the option to get one of the top QBs (Darnold, Allen, Rosen) if Cousins doesn't end up coming here or better than we're expecting to we can lure Cousins here more easily (especially if it's because our young players are exceeding expectations). Going 6-10 and missing out on the top QBs next year would be disappointing.

I don't think we're going to be a particularly talented team next season, but we aren't going to be a raging dumpster fire trainwreck. That alone is worth 3-4 wins. I predict somewhere between pick 5 and pick 15. Hopefully in range of trading up for a QB.
With the 7th overall pick in the 2018 draft, SF pick Sam Hubbard, DE

49ers pick Josh Rosen he's still the best QB next season

Darnold, Rosen or Allen would all make awesome selections.

Rosen is overrated as f

Oh no he's not you just watch bud he was injured last year

*** 2018 NFL MOCK DRAFT ***
1. San Francisco 49ers: Sam Darnold, QB, USC
2017 NFL Mock Draft Pick (as of 2/15): Jonathan Allen, DE/DT

I once gave the 49ers a franchise quarterback in my 2017 NFL Mock Draft. That's not the case anymore, as I've slotted Jonathan Allen to them. This is predicated on them trading for Jimmy Garoppolo or signing a veteran, but I'm only factoring my first-round picks in this early 2018 NFL Mock Draft, so quarterback it is.

Sam Darnold has taken the Pac-12 by storm, as he's been incredible ever since taking over as the starter, which was capped off by his amazing Pac-12 performance. A big quarterback with a nice arm, terrific accuracy and decent mobility, Darnold could end up being the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

If Darnold plays as well next year then this would make me so effing happy. Would make picking 1st worth it.
Luke Falk
Slotted to take the 8th pick overall. We end up trading to the position needed to finally select the FQB using a combination of picks and player(s) to the mighty Cleveland Browns (who select their FQB this year, but it pays no immediate dividends).

Not sure who that QB is yet. Whoever it is that is perceived to be the best after next year. Hopefully not a "System" QB who plays 99+% of his snaps out of the Shotgun/Pistol/Whateverthenextgimmickis.
