Draft logic!

Point 1.
If we resign Hodges's we won't be taking a LB in round 1 because we have our top 3 LBs.

Point 2.
If the Browns take a QB we take either will take Garrett or trade the pick for a nice draft haul. A word of caution about Garrett I'm not calling him overrated but if you look at his stats the last 2 years the majority of them came against small schools or teams that were not very good. He can rack up 5 sacks on a division 2 school but disappears against Alabama and Auburn. He likely will not face many division 2 schools in the pros. He may turn out to be a great player but looking at who he was playing when he put up those numbers will make you think Allen is the better player.

Point 3.
If the browns take Garrett the only players worthy the number 2 pick is Allen, Hooker, Williams, Humphrey, Latimore, Thomas, Foster. We can most likely trade out of the top 5 and pickup and extra 2nd and a extra 1st and still have our choice of 2 or 3 of these guys.

Point 4
We need a FS with range or we will not be able to duplicate seattles defense. It doesn't make sense to move Ward to FS. He's to slight to hold up making the big hits that the FS has to make in Seattles defense. He's a top 20 cb and cbs don't usually have to make big hits they have tackle but not run up and knock out WRs head on. The FS is playing deep watching the QB ready to backup the cbs while the SS stays in the box helping stop the run and covering RBs and TEs. Hooker is 6'2 200 plus and has great range and excellent ball skills. We can trade down to 6 or 7 and still grab him. We can sign a top cb in free agency and team him with Ward giving us a great secondary. Brock can go back to NB and compete their.

Point 5
We have needs at WR and everyone says we should sign Jeffries. The guy had 2 TDs last season and was suspended for 4 games for drugs. Plus he's said he deserves more money than Julio Jones. We should pass and target a wr in round 2 like Cupp, Ross, Zay Jones and then target a war in free agency next season. We would be a waste this season without a top QB to get him the ball anyway. We've all seen how a below average QB can affect Torrey Smiths numbers.

Point 6
We can't depend on Kilgore to stay healthy he would be better serves as being our backup center and swing guard and pushing Martin off the roster. We should target JC Tretter in free agency or Eflien in the draft round 3 or the LSU center.

Point 7
We need a FB for shannahans offense. The best FB in the league is young and a free agent Juszycz from the ravens. We can get him for 2 or 3 million a year. Or we could target Sam Rogers FB Virginia Tech in round 7!

Point 8
We need to find a legitimate swing tackle. We're ok with depth at guard but when staley got hurt we had to replace him with a guard last season. We need to either find a veteran in free agency or take a shot at one in the draft.
Hodges's wouldn't stop us from drafting a LB, neither would Armstrong.
Good points

If you project hodges and our other 2 LB'S to stop us from drafting a LB. then your point on ward is completely wrong.

Ward projects better to FS than our LB'S project to be our future starters
We should try and take the BPA whenever possible.
All very good points. But as soon as you start drafting for need you tend to reach and leave better talent on the board. My draft logic is to take the BPA everytime.

Ward is perfect for our FS role. Idk why people say he isn't big enough, he's 5'11 193, earl Thomas is 5'10 202. Is not like they can't ask Ward to put on 3-5 lbs for his FS role. Ronde Barber was 5'10 183 and was able to play FS. Ward's size isn't going to be a problem
The only way we don't take an LB in the first few rounds is if we don't sign a good one in FA. Hightower hopefully.

point one is wrong. hodges is not even a top 25 lb.
It's a polarizing topic, but I'm fully onboard with taking Trubisky/Watson/Kizer at #2 if Garrett is gone. And if they decide to go in a different direction, then Thomas.

hes not perfect. he is a decent fit. The free safety and Leo need to be pretty much the two best on the field. Ward and Lynch will not be, even as of now

logic is cool but when the draft starts and teams start trading and players start going just because a team has a crush all logic goes out the window.

haha, . Not particularly, but I also don't like not having a FQB on the roster. And there does seem to be a substantial fall-off after the #1 pick. It's obviously a risk, but it's a risk by not taking one of these guys and they turn into a FQB. A pro-bowl defender (which we can all agree is what we'd be choosing if we go in a different direction) is not even close to as valuable as a FQB. Again, it's a risk, but currently I am all for taking one of those guys.
