Solly is looking like my biggest whiff ever. Who is the man in this video? Because he's clearly not the guy we got. The guy in the video plays with confidence and swagger.

Warren Sapp said Solomon was the best player in the draft. Why u lie to us, Warren?

It's kind of crazy really. Dude showed so much on tape and it's nowhere to be found. Not sure if it's all mental with him right now but you could see the confidence he was playing with in watching his Stanford tape.

From Sapp, to Ware, to even guys who had nothing to do with him like Kyle Long all saying he was going to be a stud it's bizarre just how poorly he's shown so far.
After reading the first few pages of this thread I'm ready to draft this man-beast all over again, lol!
WTF happened?!?!?!?!
Well, for one his sister and best friend killed herself in January. I'm sure that did a number on his mind and heart. I can imagine he may take a little while to recover from that. Second, this coaching staff has pushed him to play edge instead of leaving him inside. I have to hope Thomas finds himself again next season.

Everyone's been vocal on how he's changed since the tragedy. First year media would always find him in the locker room in a good mood. Now he just dips out. He's clearly struggling hard with it, even broke down in that interview a couple weeks ago.

But there were posters saying he needs to just get over it. So I'm not sure you'll get much of a discussion.

You might be okay with that reasoning. I'm not outside or inside he should still be able to show the ability to beat blocks and penetrate.
Stupid football 101 question, is Thomas's best position the same as DeFo? Is that why they keep playing him out of position?

I don't think that's the issue. We drafted Solly to be the 5 tech but play him mostly at leo. Buckner is the 3 tech.

My guess is it has more to do with the lack of talent at edge/ stopping the run.

This angers me. I had someone close to me commit suicide. It took years to "get over it" and I still think about it. That's why I feel for Solomon, even if its frustrating watching him at times. Year 3 is where I'm going to be harsh on him.

I think thats exactly to problem. They drafted Thomas to be a 5 tech, but his best position in college was the 3 tech, which also happens to be DeFos position. I understand wanting to keep the big run stuffer NT types in on obvious running downs, but Thomas is going to be in his natural position on the 3 tech next to Defo on passing downs.
