lol aren't you the dude who loved deshone kizer?

To be fair, I think anyone who has posted frequently on draft expectations has at minimum one QB they liked who then absolutely sucked.

For me, it was Jerod Evans. The lesson I learned is watch more than 1 game to judge a QB, lol. Oof. I think Evans decision to go pro should be part of his scouting report as "really stupid decision maker." In an article interviewing him, Evans said "He did not seek feedback from the NFL prior to his announcement." LOL. WHAT?!? Oh wait it gets better. "Most scouts didn't even know I was coming out," Evans said.

Back to Peterman. I was able to watch multiple of his games. I don't think I've been far off on a QB that I was able to watch 3+ games. Many things stood out to me about Peterman, and I'm pretty sure I've discussed it in this thread. The biggest thing? Peterman showed no experience or ability to throw into contested coverage and make the play. A great deal of his throws were to wide open receivers. Well in the NFL, you'll rarely every have receivers wide open. But proponents of QBs will say its "vision." Whereas Mahomes frequently threw into contested coverage and detractors will say he is "forcing the throw." But all I saw was a guy that can throw a receiver open which is incredibly rare, and necessary in the NFL.

I liked Jerod Evans too. Too bad he got hurt in training camp and never got a full shot but it is what it is. Development plays a huge part in careers and I'll stand by my statement that on draft day, I would still go Peterman over Mahomes. Mahomes in 2018 is not the same raw arm talented QB in 2016.

Traits and Background
Peterman had more time under center than PM who ran a pure spread at Texas Tech. NP looked comfortable running PA under center w/ James Conners in the backfield and could still turn around and get the ball out on time. PM had the better arm but I felt that he always looked for the deep ball like how CJ is today. I liked how NP could drop back, look off defenders, and throw a strike with good footwork to the other side of the field. As for PM, a lot of what I missed came from my fears of a spread system. I'm from Hawaii and saw the same detractors after Colt Brennan fell out with the Redskins. I felt that PM came from the same type of system and considered PM as a bit more athletic Colt Brennan and Graham Harrell. That's where I was dramatically wrong, I'll admit that. He's more disciplined off the field than Colt and he did a better job at spreading the ball around than Harrell ever did. My bad, my bad.

Development
So we're going to ignore Mahomes being groomed by a proven Andy Reid who has never failed a QB while NP had unproven Rick Dennison and Brian Daboll? Put Peterman in over CJ Beathard for Shannahan and I think he does better as well. Daboll's offense has never been successful in the NFL and this season is no different. It says a lot when your leading rusher is your rookie QB (Josh Allen) when he wasn't considered by anyone as a dual threat by any means.

Cost
Another thing that is ignored was that Shanny and Lynch were getting a spotty roster from Baalke during this draft so quantity of picks where considered too. No one said to spend a 1st on NP. Also, we didn't have the luxury to spend picks for Mahomes and then sit him and still make the playoffs like KC did. Our roster was so bad, Arik Armstead was seriously going to be our LEO. Sure, we could've drafted him at the Solomon Thomas spot, but where was that talk then? Right after the draft, no one was mad that we didn't grab PM at #3.

I'll own up to the Peterman vs Mahomes judgement but where's the "Mahomes will be an MVP candidate" talk at? If 2018 Patrick Mahomes was avail in 2016, sign me up. Hindsight is 20/20 for a lot of posters who were nowhere to be found before the draft.
Wow^
Gruden will rebuild him, he has the technology. He will make him better!

I still say if Shanny drafted Peterman, he would be AT WORST Nick Mullens.

If Nick Mullens was in Buffalo he'd be Nathan Peterman

That's a huge leap. I think he'd be better under Kyle instead of his situation. Who wouldn't be? But going from some of the most disastrous play ever to saying he'd be as good as Mullens who has played his ass off is pretty wild. You're also assuming he'd out play CJ when he's done absolutely nothing to prove that. I think you're very wrong in assuming nick would do something like 3 td and 12 int with 50 percent completions in buffalo .

Then the guy a few posts above said he'd still take him over mahomes who threw 50 touchdowns and 5000 yards. Lmao has to be a troll job . After maybe 27 or so touchdowns you can't point at mahomes and use the "Andy Reid, loaded weapons, perfect situation" excuse anymore. Mahomes is a superstar.
