Well it was a nice run, 2 NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl Sadly its over, we dont have the foundation to stay competitive and its time for a rebuild. As frustrating as it was, Baalke did the right thing in free agency and is going to throw the 2nd and 3rd stringers into the fire this season. We have questions all over the team and you would be hard pressed to find a position that is locked down. This year will be difficult to watch but it will answer the questions about how our roster fits in with the system that Chip will run. Biggest Needs: OT, OG, QB, DE, OLB, ILB Secondary Needs: WR, TE, NT, CB Obviously, finding starters for that many positions isn't happening in this draft, but we will hit the key foundation pieces... TRADES: Colin Kaepernick is traded to the Denver Broncos for their 3rd (94) and a conditional pick in 2017 based on playing time and playoff wins. 49ers trade our 6th rounder (178 overall) to the Cleveland browns for their 5th rounder in 2017. 1st (7) Jared Goff, QB, Cal Goff will sit for year one and soak in the speed of the NFL and the playbook. It makes no sense starting him with our line and the lack of talent on the team. 2nd (37) Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson Armstead will continue to improve, but he needs help on the other side. We lack a pass rush and it all starts up front! Dodd slides to us because of the depth of talent in this draft. Our DL just got a huge upgrade. 3rd (68) Christian Westerman, OG, AZ State We continue with improving the trenches, Westerman will fill the hole at RG and instantly improve our horrible line. Quick feet to accel in the ZBS. 3rd (94) (Kaep trade) Kamalei Correa, OLB, Boise State Brooks will be cut and we need more pass rush specialists. Correa has a great motor, but will be a rotational player. Harrold and Correa will sub each other with Lynch on the other side. 4th (105) Willie Beavers, OT, W. Michigan We need someone to come in and compete for the RT spot. Beavers will need to adjust to the NFL, but will be a starter before the end of the season unless Davis comes back and earns his spot back. 4th (133) Comp Scooby Wright, ILB, AZ If Jaylon Smith is here still, Ballke may have a hard time passing on him, but Wright gives us a ILB that can zero in on the play and make tackles. Having Bowman allows us to be able to field the less than athletic LB'er. 5th (142) CJ Prosise, RB, UND Chip gets a weapon for his offense and we add much needed depth behind Hyde. 5th (145) Rashard Robinson, CB, LSU Talented DB that falls to us due to character concerns 5th (174) Comp Kevin Hogan, QB, Stanford This is a rebuild and having another young QB to pickup the offense and be a possible future starter, ala Kirk Cousins, is a smart move. Hogan isn't NFL ready like Goff or Wentz, but he has enough of an arm and athleticism to make it. 6th (178) Traded to Cleveland Browns for 5th round pick in 2017 6th (207) Kenny Lawler, WR, Cal We give Goff a WR that he has a rapport with already and can be a red zone target. Not overly athletic, but does get in and out of cuts well and catches at the high point and away from his body. Slides a bit due to his frame and slow 40 time. 6th (211) Comp DJ Reader, NT, Clemson We all thought we were set at NT didn't we .... NT depth that could get playing time depending on injuries. 6th (213) Comp Morgan Burns, KR/CB, Kansas State Burns is sprinter who returned 4 kickoffs for TD's in 2015, still learning CB and used his speed to recover from bad technique. Could be used on offense in Kellys system due to speed and played RB in past. Doesn't fit on alot of teams rosters but could on Chips. With this draft, we get our QB of the future, solidify both lines, get our #2 RB, and add LB's that should be starting by the end of the season. For 2017 we also get a 5th from Cleveland and possible 2nd (Kaep SB win), 3rd (Kaep AFC Champ), or 4th (Kaep playoff win) from Denver. For 2017, we will need to target TE and WR early!

If one of the two QB's fall to us at 7 I have my doubts if Baalke will pull the trigger. He could get bailed out by someone leap-frogging us and then safely take a defensive player. Does this guy have a clue about drafting offensive players?

I mean my thing is people say his offense doesn't work, his offense definitely doesn't work without a dual-threat quarterback but he has not had since he's been in the NFL so why would we give him a quarterback that he's been losing with.
