Free Agency
N Fairley – DT
P Robinson – CB
L Dunbar – RB
J Evans – OG
RGIII – QB
Fairley would be my top target left on the market. He could line up all along our Defensive line, and be especially effective inside next to Armstead when we get into nickle packages. There is some nice depth to the D-Line class this year, so we can draft a few guys later on and develop them behind Williams/Dial/Armstead/Fairley. Robinson has continued to improve, and is still just 28. Dunbar gives us the speedy receiving back we need, while Evans adds experience to our O-line as we groom his replacement. RGIII is our Kaep replacement.
Draft / Trades
I think the Kaep to Denver trade ends up happening and that we ultimately squeeze a 2nd out of them once the Browns pony up their early 3rd. I'd trade a couple of our 6th round picks for experienced players who fit Kelly's system in Greco and Thomas.
In the draft, we've got to go Goff if he's there. While it's not a great WR class, I like the value in the 2nd round. One of Treadwell/Coleman/Doctson/Thomas will be there for us, and I like the idea of bringing in a QB and WR together. The depth starts to plummet after the 2nd, so I go WR early. I focus on O-line and defense through the rest of the draft. I don't go edge rusher until the 5th round due to the strength of the class, and my held out hope that either Carradine or Harold emerge this year.
1. First round: Own pick – Jared Goff QB
2. Second round: Own pick – Michael Thomas WR
2. Second round: Denver (Kaep Trade) – Chris Jones DT/DE
3. Third round: Own pick – Deion Jones ILB/OLB
4. Fourth round: Own pick – Joe Haeg OG/OT
5. Fourth round: Comp pick (Mike Iupati) – Max Tuerk C
6. Fifth round: Own pick – M Judon OLB/DE
7. Fifth round: San Diego Chargers (2015 draft-day trade) – J Furgeson RB
8. Fifth round: Comp pick (Perrish Cox) – J Bradbury CB
9. Sixth round: Dallas Cowboys (2015 draft-day trade) – Trade for D Thomas WR
10. Sixth round: Denver Broncos (Vernon Davis trade) – Trade for J Grego OG
11. Sixth round: Comp pick (Dan Skuta) – A Woods NT
12. Sixth round: Comp pick (Frank Gore) – Anthony Zettel DE
Yeah, I think getting the Brown's 3 or the Bronco's 2 is a game changer for the draft. I'd go defense in the 2nd though, s I don't see a huge need at WR. Our passing game didn't give us a good measurement of the talent at WR the last 5-10 years.
