Grade the 2013 Draft [3 years later]

Still don't know what we have in Tank, McDonald or Patton due to lack of significant playing time. I think Patton and McDonald will paint a clearer picture after this year.

Reid is solid and has been a starter since coming into the league and already been to the Pro Bowl.

Dial has been solid.

Lemon has done next to nothing.

Cooper looked good for KC early but that has nothing to do with us.

Nobody else worth mentioning

I give this draft a D+

Not sure it's a bad draft, just not an exciting one. A number of the late rounders are backups elsewhere while 7 of 8 first-fifth rounders are still with the team...which isn't bad considering how strong our roster was in 2013 and 2014. Moody was battling a solid group of LBs, for instance. Did he beat out Willis, Bowman, Aldon, or Brooks? No.

1st Round - Eric Reid--Starter
2nd Round - Cornellius "Tank" Carradine--Changing position...
2nd round - Vance McDonald--has contributed
3rd round - Corey Lemonier--contributed minimally...may be a late bloomer, or not very good
4th round - Quinton Patton--fiery guy who needs to play under control, has contributed
4th round - Marcus Lattimore--retired due to injury
5th round - Quinton Dial--contributed, good pick for a 5th rounder
6th round - Nick Moody--contributed, still in NFL...marginally--PS Seattle
7th round - B.J. Daniels--still in NFL, marginal player, PS
7th round - Carter Bykowski--backup in Minnesota
7th round - Marcus Cooper--contributed in KC and still in league

1st Round - Eric Reid, Safety, LSU - Stud
2nd Round - Cornellius "Tank" Carradine, Defensive End, Florida State - May displace Brooks and start opposite Lynch.
2nd round - Vance McDonald, Tight End, Rice - Serviceable TE.
3rd round - Corey Lemonier, Outside Linebacker, Auburn - BUST
4th round - Quinton Patton, Wide Receiver, Louisiana Tech - Career Special Teams.
4th round - Marcus Lattimore, Running Back, South Carolina - Retired.
5th round - Quinton Dial, Defensive Lineman, Alabama - Serviceable 5 Technique in a D-line rotation.
6th round - Nick Moody, Linebacker, Florida State - Career Special Teams.
7th round - B.J. Daniels, Quarterback, South Florida - BUST
7th round - Carter Bykowski, Offensive Tackle, Iowa State - BUST
7th round - Marcus Cooper, Defensive Back, Rutgers - Above Average #3 CB for Kansas City.

C- when weighting the picks

C/B- sounds fair…Reid and Dial most productive…Patton and McDonald (great blocker) still developing showed some flashes past year…Tank experiment as DE failed but now he's moving back to his "comfort" spot i.e rushing the passer/OLB role. If you can get 4-5 starters/contributors from a draft that should count as a productive one. Looks like a "home run" compared to our 2012 draft

4th round - Quinton Patton, Wide Receiver, Louisiana Tech - not sure what to say about this guy, some times e looks like a verysolid slot receiver other times i want to punch him in the mouth because how much of a jack ass he is.
4th round - Marcus Lattimore, Running Back, South Carolina - a roll of the dice that didnt work well.
5th round - Quinton Dial, Defensive Lineman, Alabama - not a great player, inconsistent but has moments where he looks like a playmaker. needs to be more conssitent with technique.
6th round - Nick Moody, Linebacker, Florida State - bum
7th round - B.J. Daniels, Quarterback, South Florida - hofer, notsrs
7th round - Carter Bykowski, Offensive Tackle, Iowa State - he is on a practive squad somewhere
7th round - Marcus Cooper, Defensive Back, Rutgers - flash in the pan.

as of right now this draft is close to a failure. The only useful players are reid and dial. due to patton, mcdonald, tank being on the team this could change. Unlikely though. If tank can finally reach his potential as an olb, vance can improve as a receiver like he was starting to show last year, and patton could perform well in kelly's system this could turn into a very solid draft.

THat is unlikely though, playing the "if game" is what happened last year and we all know how that turned out. More than likely we got a solid rotational dlinemen and a solid safety. that makes the draft a D as of right now, not as bad as 2012 by any means or stretch of the imagination, but not good.

If you consider the average draft consists of seven picks, and three to five turn out to be NFL caliber starters or backups, this isn't a terrible draft. Reid is a definite starter, Dial has started, McDonald and Patton are close to starting caliber (we'll see) and only one player is out of the NFL out of eleven.
