Want some opinions!

1. Most people don't think about it but Colin Kapernicks value goes up on April 1st. If we eat Kaps 11.9 million dollar bonus he will become more attractive to other teams because they will only have to pay him around 4 million for 2016 and teams can get him cheap for a season to see if they can turn him around. We more than likely are going to get stuck paying that money since we cannot trade him while he is injured and there's no incentive for him to come back early. By waiting he would force us to pay his bonus or cut him. He would then have control of where he got to play next. I figure the 3 most likely trading partners for Kap are the Browns because Hue Evans really likes him, the Texans because they are a playoff caliber team with a s**tty QB and the Jets for the same reason. Fitzpatrick had a good season but he's unlikely to duplicate those numbers because he's old and will be trying to get a good deal since his time is almost up. Coaches rarely get 3 years to turn a team around and the Browns are so dysfunctional Hue might not be willing to risk his job waiting on a QB to develop plus it would allow them to use the 2nd pick on an Oline or Dlineman. If we were able to trade Kap I felt that we could probably be able to get a high 3rd for him. Without the Huge bonus due I'm thinking a high 2nd or a late 1st rounder. The Texans might not want to wait until there window closes until they can develop a QB to match their team. The Jets have pick 20, Texans 22 and the Browns 32. Heck we can even throw in Brooks to the Browns who tried to trade for him last year or a 3rd or 4th rounder to the Jets or the Texans to make them pull the trigger. There's also an outside chance the Rams would be interested but they would have to pay more than another team. I know a lot of guys think there's no way we would get anything good for Kap but he's still a Super Bowl QB that's been to the playoffs several times. 2. Looking at the trades for the last 4 years most of the trades don't go by the trade value chart it all depends on what the GMs want. The numbers don't add up usually after you get out of the top 10 picks. I feel we should attempt to acquire as many picks as possible in the top 100 picks and the higher the better. Assuming we make the deal with the Browns for pick 32 I propose we attempt to trade up into the bottom of round 1 and pickup another player that is capable of coming in and starting. We don't need another 1st round project like last year that only played 260 snaps out of 1100 while we had 6th and 7th round picks playing more than them. The players we should target are Eli Apple, Cody Whitehair, Taylor Decker, Jaylon Smith, Vernon Butler, Conner Cook, Josh Doctson. We would need to give up pick 37, our 4th and maybe a 6th rounder to move up to around 26-29. We don't need 12-15 rookies from this draft. After that we should attempt to trade our 3rd and 5th to move up into round 2 and get another quality player that is going to drop out of round 1. Every year people project 50 different players in round one and 20 of them drop out. Two 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders would improve our team more than 12-15 rookies. 3. Free agency Last year Balke went out and got us the 2 worst oline in the league and one of the worst starting CB. This years strategy should be to get at least 2 or 3 that are rated near the top of their positions and then go budget shopping. We should have our jet and a limo waiting to pick up Malik Jackson and Trevathon the second free agency starts. Both are perfect fits for the holes in our lineup. I know Balke thinks you can't win through free agency but Denver just proved if you do it right it can be done. You go after the top players that are still young enough to not age out before the rest of your team is ready to win. Top line targets Malik Jackson DE 10/11 million a year Danny Trevathon ILB 5 million a year Osemele G/T 6/7 million a year Brooks G 5/6 million a year Trumaine Johnson CB 5/6 million a year Schwartz OT 5/6 million a year There's a lot more players to add to the list but any 3 will do and would still leave us 25/30 million to roll over to next years cap after we sign our draft picks. Then we shop the budget market after all of the expensive vetrans are cut and pick out 2 or 3 of them. Under no circumstance will we target the 73rd best TE or the 101st best OT these type guys just take reps away from our young guys and don't make us any better. Pears and Devey set our team back last year. 4. We have problems letting the young guys play. The team new it sucked last year but they still would not play the younger guys more. Armstead should have played minimum 700-800 snaps last year to learn his position instead of the 262. We were not going anywhere. Our team will play the 6th or 7th rounders but won't let the 1st and 2nd rounders play. Donte Johnson had to play his rookie season and he played well what do we do we benched him for most of the season. A 1st round pick should start his first year unless he's not physically ready. A 2nd round pick should contribute in year 1 and be ready to start by there 2nd year. We kept Brandon Thomas on the roster last year but didn't let him play a snap. By the time we gradually let our players play its time for them to hit free agency. We should have been playing Tank Carridine to see if he was actually any good. We may not need to target Malik Jackson in free agency but we don't know if tank or Armstead are any good. 5. Players that are obvious that they are going to be good Balke refuses to draft them. Everything I read last year said Marcus Peters was going to be good last year. Every expert said our biggest need was at CB and WR that's why he refuses to draft any early. It's like he reads all of the mocks and listens to all the experts and then he finds the one player never mentioned to show people how smart he is. Jimmy Ward might end up being great but as a first round pick every inner fan was pissed. All of the good WRs that fell into round 2 last year he ignored them and took a safety that no one ever heard of before that we probably could have gotten later.

5. Couldn't agree more. Baalke tries to outsmart everyone. Forget the consensus rating I want This small school safety in round 1 2014, or round 2 2015. Let's draft a DL who we won't play year 1 and won't have his spot solidified by year 2. If he'd pass GM duties over to the webzone we'd get 4+ starters in one draft. It's like he has no scouting department and tries to ignore all the experts. Does he watch college football at all? Does he draft just to piss off the coach? If he drafts another "who is that" day 1 or 2 I'm gonna lose it

Agree with a lot of your points, especially #1. I was bouncing that idea around in the Jared Goff thread even though it's a little off topic. I'm not 100% sure whether guaranteed base salary works the same way as other guaranteed money like a signing bonus when trading players. Any money the player has already been paid stays with the team that paid it, so if the April 1st deadline means we're writing an $11.9 million check to Kaepernick on April 1st, your trade idea would work.

I like the idea of signing some key (hopefully young) free agents and rolling over the remaining money to 2017 when the team is hopefully competitive again.

I disagree with #4 - I think the coaches have a better understanding of how good our young players are than we do. The fact that Carradine has been riding the bench most likely means he's not very good and hasn't been impressive in practice. He's certainly no Wilkerson or he would be on the field by now (it's not like we have a pro bowl alternative at the position).

TB doesn't try to out smart everyone geez that is so lame when people say that.what would the guy really get out of outsmarting people. If He wanna look smart the right thing to do would be build a championship roster.... He does what he thinks is best. He didn't reach much at all on ward or Tart. The Eagles were eyeing Tart and Trent pulled the trigger first
