Goff hands were 9 inches

Cal QB Jared Goff measured in at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds with nine-inch hands.

HandGate 2016 is now officially over. Goff's hands are smaller than average for an NFL quarterback, but CBS Sports' Dane Brugler says they are not "a deal-breaker." According to Brugler, Derek Carr (9 1/8), Ryan Tannehill (9) and Colin Kaepernick (9 1/8) all have similar sized hands. Goff is competing with North Dakota State's Carson Wentz to be the first quarterback selected in this year's draft.

Hand size is more important to receivers than qbs, in my opinion. 9 inches, while smaller than Alex Smith's hands, isn't terrible, just not ideally what you'd want in someone who handles the ball every play.

If you count the "throwing" QBs, Vernon Adams would be the shortest and lightest at 5-10 7/8, 200 twitter.com/NFL_CFB/status…

Agree. The issue isn't that he has small hands. It's that you'd have to draft him in the top 10 -- even though he has some serious question marks. Hands, frame, Carson Palmer syndrome, no real idea about his deep passing game (lots of short/mid stuff at Cal). He may be great, or he may be yet another QB bust. It's just a big gamble for a pick that needs to bring in a pro bowl caliber player.

That's the trouble with this years QB class. People are building mediocre QB prospects to be something they're not. There's no Luck, Newton, Winston, Mariotta in this draft. The kids that would have been taken late 1st in most other drafts are now getting premium consideration. So, people make excuses for them -- "Oh that's not that bad.", "Irrelevant", "He will get better at the next level", "Didn't have talent around him", "Beating ranked teams is overrated", and on and on. It's not good enough for an elite pick. Particularly a QB.

Its very important for QBs. Small handed QBs often struggle in the elements. Many cold weather teams will not draft a guy with small hands.

Baylor WR Corey Coleman measured 5-10 1/2 and weighed 194. He has 9-inch hands and 30 2/8 arms.

According to who?
Do they measure grip strength? I would think that is more important then size.

Man it must suck to be a talented QB and have all that film and yet so much is made about the measurement of your hands.
