Agree with most and I really enjoyed your write up. Only things I would change is that VHIII over Ramsey at corner. Not saying VHIII is a better player but Ramsey I personally think Ramsey is the best defensive player in this draft but is better suited for Free Safety. Noah Spence is going to be a top 15 draft pick and is actually extremely good OLB for a 3-4 team. And don't forget Kicker. If your not resigning Dawson then either Acosta (not opposed to this) or draft one.

You forgot Jack and Smith as ILB's in the 1st round.

I really didn't forget. Ragland is the top ILB prospect, and would be there for us at pick 7. Miles Jack and Jaylon Smith are OLB's. At 235lbs and 230, respectively, both are way too light for 3-4 OLB. Again, See Eli Harold.

I won't argue about Spence. He is good and better suited for 3-4 OLBBut honestly, I just don't think that OLB is as big a need as another ILB to play along side Bowman. No way on earth will or should Vernon Hargreaves III go before Ramsey, and even less likely he play FS in the NFL, not with that size, that speed, those ball skills, and that closing speed. With bigger CB, 6-0 + 200+, in high demand he won't see FS until the twilight of his career. This kid is a day one starter on every team in the league at CB. Any team that plays him at FS will be playing him out of position and wasting at least his rookie year. And if Baalke drafts another kicker it will be grounds for termination. Resign Dawson or get one off the street.

Not even close. Both can certainly ILB and both better than any ILB prospects in this draft
I like the idea of calhoun in the 2nd
and standing him up

This. I'd rather have Jaylon Smith with his injury over Ragland. We need an ILB who is strong in coverage. 235 coming out of college is not a problem at all. 240 is fine for an ILB especially if they're going to be primarily used in coverage.
Good post! Liked the format of listing players in each round. Any reason you left Spriggs off in the second round for OT? He moves well and would seem to be ideal for the Kelly OL.
Very good OP (finally - the board is really depressing with all its petty fights lately). Only comments I have are guesses:

I fear that Boone and the Niners have burnt too many bridges between them and that he may want to win rather than be part of a rebuild.

I also see a team overpaying Ian, like Philly did with Soap and RJF back in the day, and Baalke thinking (correctly) that DL is the part of the team that is least riddled with holes. Especially if he is targeting DL in the draft, as I think (fear) he is.

FA is such a crapshoot. We may "target" anyone we wish, but we are competing with at least another 5 teams on each, especially in valuable positions (line, pass-rush), and especially for marqee names. We WILL have to overpay them: we are a rebuilding project, we have controversial coaching (perhaps a big thing with defenders), and a mess at the FO. Our large cap room will also make agents try to squeeze tons of money from us: "you chaps have room, pay my guy, otherwise he should go somewhere to win now". We will get some FAs, sure, but where and who is really tough to visualise now.

Draft-wise, if any of the main OL/pass-rush prospects is there at #7 we should pick them. I really, really think we should pick Stanley if he's there. Staley's a great Niner and I think (I hope) that he has another 2-3 years in him. But throwing a rook at LT when he retires/gets injured is too much of a risk. Pick Stanley now, groom him at RT or as the swing tackle on the bench while he's learning, and let him own the LT spot for years once Staley retires.

But I also think that Baalke will draft Buckner if he's there at #7. Just a feeling.

#1 Need = great QB
Best option = Goff falls to #7 and they select Goff

Superbowls are almost always won by QB's who can throw from the pocket. (Brady x4, Roethlisberger 2, Manning, Manning, Warner, Brees, Rodgers, Flacco, etc.)

Kaepernick will be 29 y/o next year and is soon going to be an OLD running QB. Old running QB's don't do well. It's too late to learn to be a great pocket QB = can't teach and old dog. Goff is only 21 and is already a much better passer than Kap!!!

Best plan would be to draft the best QB (Goff), have Kap start this year, build up his trade value, and then trade Kap if you get a good offer, (if Goff is looking good).

Indeed Jason Spriggs is very athletic and moves. I left him of because the grade I have on him - late 1st, very early 2nd. But more importantly, he don't fit power power run scheme. At 301 he'll need to put on some weight. And his upper body strength is a major question. He'll need a season to develop through all that. And for me players who need the least development is very important.

Man, you are preaching to the choir. As I've stated, and have been saying, I think we should take a QB in the first and sit him for a season. But I just don't think that's gonna happen. Last season was a mistake of the FO and I think the FO knows that. Even though Kaep has a cap-friendly contract they still have invested a lot of money in him. And he did go to 3 straight conference title games and a SB. Clearly, there's proven winning talent there. So I'm not so sure the FO want's to give up on him.

And as I've stated this roster has much of what Chip wants to do offensively, especially at the QB position. Keep in mind that Chip lobbied to come here. That's no small point! Listen, I'm a football coach myself (and talent scout). And I can tell you that I'm not lobbying to coach any team unless I'm fairly sure I can win with the current roster. Keep in mind that NFL coaches, on average, don't get a long time to turn things around/ Coaches contracts average out about 3 years, so new coaches don't have much time to waste. When coaches lobby to coach a team there's something about the roster that make him think he can be competitive with that roster, now.

I really didn't want Chip as a coach, but he's our coach anyway. So I'm gonna support him and want him to be successful. So when I look at our current roster and what Chip likes to do offensively, Kaep is the best QB with the tools to run his offense since he's had Marcus Mariota. And as we know Marcus Mariota was compared heavily to Kaep, not to mention his accuracy was a major question coming out of college - like Kaep.

That's why, IMHO, we won't be drafting a QB.

Mariota is a better, more accurate version of Kaepernick who also happens to be 6 years younger and getting paid a fraction of what Kaepernick is making. There's a night and day difference in their value - Kaepernick may only be worth a 4th or 5th round pick while Mariota is worth the #1 pick.

Kaepernick's recovery from surgery is the only reason he may be on the roster in 2016 in my opinion (if his contract guarantees).

We're gonna have to overpay for people at times. And in our current situation, with our cap space, over paying for Boone, and maybe Wilkerson, is worth it. Consider this:

O-Line
Stayley, Boone, Wisniewski, Kilgore/Marin/Le'Raven Clark, Trent Brown

D-Line
Armstead, Williams, Wilkerson

Chip Kelly can do some realy damage to the NFC West with that O and D-line. So if we have to overpay for a few guys so be it. It'll set us for the next 3 to 4 years, at lest.

BTW, Boone isn't RJF or I. Soap. There isn't a team he won't start for.
