There is a crater-size hole in the middle of the SF defense and people want to use a #7 pick on a WR who wasn't even a WR in college?

Yes and like Miller would be, Jenkins was a MAJOR reach in the 1st round

hindsight

he had the tools to be a great WR the effort and drive to be better was lacking

Did he? He was light in the loafers, didn't really get separation off the line, route running wasn't anything special, he didn't have monster hands or longer arms then anyone else. I didn't see anything that made him special... I remember training camp he couldn't stay on his feet because he was getting pushed around by everyone.

He was fast and that's about it...total reach and probably Baalke's single worst draft pick.

I thought he did have really big hands and long arms. He's still pu55y, I just remember some of his measurables being impressive.

woa woa woa...did anyone actually say he should be our first round pick??

Yep. The logic being that since no pick is guaranteed, might as well draft the next OBJ coming off of like 300 yards receiving.

Would maybe make sense if the original OBJ was a converted QB putting up mediocre level stats.

A little over 32 arms and 9 1/2 inch hands not small not massive
Ohio State WR Braxton Miller is "a joy to watch in space," writes Pro Football Focus' Gordon McGuiness.

On only 26 receptions last year, Miller broke eight tackles and juked himself free of defenders who didn't even have a chance to touch him first. Despite his obvious talent, PFF only sees Miller as a third-rounder and the No. 13 receiver in the class. "With Miller there is a lot of projection, especially considering he played just one year at wide receiver in college after moving over from quarterback," McGuiness wrote. "He is raw as a prospect, and his route running needs a lot of work, something you notice when you watch him take far too long to make a cut on a rou

This is who I was hoping to drop to us 3rd Rd. Lol too bad we don't like athletic play makers.
Sure glad we picked Will Redmond over this guy... good move to reach on a player coming off an acl tear at one of our deepest positions instead of adding a dynamic playmaker and BPA at the biggest position of need on our team (slot wr).

All the argument is a bit ridiculous though, state your opinion and we will bump this thread after the draft. As I said, I don't think Braxton slips past the 2nd round.

Well I was wrong about him being drafted before the end of the 2nd.

But he looked like he should have been a 2nd round pick in pre-season!

I'm at the point that if we drafted OBJ, he would be like quinton Patton lol

If Patton was way more athletic, had better hands, and ran good routes... I know you're exaggerating, but Patton isn't a good receiver stuck with a bad QB. He's a bad receiver with a bad QB which is why we brought in two barely mediocre veterans in Kerley and Streater. That should have showed that we really had no one worth mentioning after Torrey Smith on the roster at the WR position.

Beckham Jr is good enough to put up 1000+ yards on any team. A 34 year old Anquan Boldin put up over 1000 yards for us two seasons ago. Some of the problem is we don't have a good QB, but we also have garbage receivers.
