Niners mock draft 1.0

Don't see why we would cut Dorsey and Vance?? Why would you want to resign TJE dude is awful Green won't be coming here IMO Gates is two feet out that door and they like Green in SD.

I just don't see a ton of defensive FAs coming here because of Chip's offense and I think Wilk will get tagged. Love you're first two picks! Not sure what you used for a ranking but a lot of those guys are at this point are ranked much lower then you have us drafting them.

I'd be a little bummed out if it went down like this.

I wouldn't cut McDonald...he had by far his best receiving year, particularly after Gabbert took over. He's also become a terrific blocker. With Celek returning, Kelly would have a more seasoned vet along with VMac, Bell and/or Busta Andersen. Really don't see a need to bring in a FA. I'd FA Damon Harrison in lieu of Williams. He's a beast of a run-stopper. Our DL got lit up way too often last year. A front line of Armstead, Harrison and Wilkerson would put a stop to that nonsense. Anthony Davis was signed through 2019, assuming he comes back. Not sure how it works when a player retires, if they'd need to re-sign him. Also not sure if Boldin's worth re-signing unless he's willing to take a significant pay cut. He's slowed down quite a bit.

As for external FA's, I think Boykin's a better choice than Claiborne, who's really never lived up to his potential in Dallas. Irvan wants to stay in Seattle, even if he'd lose money in FA. Hali's 32...think a considerably younger guy like Vernon or his teammate Shelby from Miami would be a better investment.

WRT the draft, I've seen a number of different numbers on Doctson's height, from 6-2 to 6-4. Most of the weight's I've seen have him @ 195, not 210. If his true weight's only 195, Kelly/Baalke might hesitate. Your proposed trade to get William Jackson puzzles me...that's a lot to give up to get a 6-2, 175 CB. Again, not sure where you're getting your height/weight figures, but the draft profiles I've read on him say he's got skills, but his slight frame could be a problem in the NFL. Don't see that deal going down.

With the picks we have and the talent we already have Hali, makes sense, and this is just a mock! This is people I see fitting! And WJ3 is actually more like 185 I missed a button. And your right josh Doctson is a little bit small than that! 195. Plus have you seen the way WJ3 plays? He's aggressive Against the run, and can make up for small lack of speed with jumping ability and height.

Plus Balke likes bargains and signing a solid older vet is something he does often plus this will make us good next year not in two or three. Plus he also signs guys you under preform elsewhere such as Carlos Rodgers. And why does everyone say Boone doesn't fit?? What makes him bad for this offense? He has been awesome year in and out for us. If Boone doesn't fit does that mean staley doesn't fit either. It just make no sense to me

Dorsey is always hurt. And Vance is a waste. Remember Money talks. these are just guys I liked. So I'm sure their a little all over the place. The first three I had us picking re the most important to me.
Kelly likes to run the ball, and use quick hitting passes out of those 2WR -2TE and 1RB formations , McDonald could be a real asset in that capacity , I think Chip will keep Vance, and find work for him and Bell in those multiple TE sets ,plus Celek could also find success in those formations , which is why I anticipate Chip drafting an athletic TE in the mold of Ertz or Fleener, to use as a weapon in the passing game

Doresy was a stud NT ( not DE)and Vance had statistically his best season ( weird he makes some plays when he get a couple targets) both are cheap so don't see the point?

Your mock so you can do whatever you want
We all know Chip has his scheme, and personnel to fit that scheme. He knows what he wants/needs. Baalke just has to get them.

As far as our roster, there's holes everywhere. IMO our priorities are..

1.Beef up the OL. A couple of draft picks and a FA signing to battle it out.

2.WR help. After Boldin and Smith we have a bunch of unproven/talented guys. I like the potential, but either they were underutilized, or simply aren't good enough to make the roster. Talking to you Patton,Ellington,White..
And is Boldin returning?
DRAFT A STAR WR ALREADY.

3.MLB. For years we had the most dominant LB's in the league. Where are their replacements Trent.....

4.OLB. We're gonna need a stable of fresh pass rushers. Someone has to help Lynch off the edge.

5.Sign a FA DT and draft one. Run Defense has got to be cleaned up.

6.QB. Wondering how many of you still believe Kap is the guy for Chip's offense? How bout Gabbert? Neither? Personally, Im good w Blaine. Cut or trade Kap. Draft or sign a backup.

Thoughts?
Nice job, I like the idea of Jack in the first more and more.

Don't sleep on Busta anderson, he's athletic and a pass catching TE
Cut:
Ahmad brooks- Agree
Vance Macdonald- he is cheap, is a good blocker, which Chip needs, keep. He came around under Gabbert
Eric Peers- Agree
Antione Bethea- disagree- team has 50 million in cap space, safeties are a premium, he is good, keep him
Glenn Dorsey- Agree

Resign:
Alex Boone- Only if right price
Ian Williams- right price, otherwise let him walk
Anquan Boldin- definately re sign two year deal
Phil Dawson- too old, go with a young kicker at league minimum. Team will not be a contender in 2016, build for 20-17 and 2018
Tony Jerod-Eddie- not sure
Anthony Davis- he is under contract, if he returns to NFL he is the 9ers
Garrett Celek- agree
Shaun Draungh- agree

Would not go WR in round 2. OL is what needs to be addressed.

Round #1: Myles Jack, LB, 6'1", 245
Round #2: Josh Doctson, WR, 6'3", 210
Trade a third, fifth, and a future pick for a second round 2 pick: William Jackson III, CB, 6'1", 195
Round 4: Alex Redmond, OG, 6'4", 305
Round 4: Yannick Ngakoue, OLB, 6'2", 255
Round 5: Steven Longa, LB, ST, 6'1", 235
Round 5: Issic Seumalo, OL, 6'4", 315
Round 6: Byran Marshall, RB, 6'0" 205

Round 6: Kevon Seymour, CB, 5'11", 190
Round 6: Treyvon Boykin, QB, 6'2", 215

I don't know who makes the team from our draft picks, but I feel all these picks create more competition for almost every position!
i think Jack and Doctson will be amazing players and provide a large impact immediately! Jackson the III will help create an even mor competitive cornerback stable and allow us to really pick out the best!

Thanks!

Like the targets in Free Agency, but agree with other Zoners that some of these guys may not be available/tagged. Think that Schwartz and Ladarius Green or Delanie Walker would be the best opportunities as inbound free agents.

Would love to keep Dorsey over TJE, but your re-signings are solid.

Like the draft, but I think you overdo it in the secondary. Getting pass rushers like Ngakoue and Hali would be great, but this team needs more help at OT than it does at CB.

Nice work.

I'm anxioius to see what Bell and Anderson can do next year. Anderson seems like a guy who could play a similar role to D Walker...all over.
