WR Laquon Treadwell

No. Not the same caliber of prospect as Cooper, Julio Jones or AJ Green imo.

Treadwell had more college catches than Jones or Green, averaged more per game than Cooper. He didn't have the best quarterbacking at Ole Miss during his time there, either. I think he is 2 years younger than Jones and Green coming out. Doesn't turn 21 until after the draft.

He's behind Green and Cooper in receiving yards per game in college and Green and Cooper had better junior years on a per game basis (Green only played 9 games junior year). Julio gets a pass because he had John Parker Wilson as his starting QB freshman year (Alabama had under 2400 passing yards) and Greg McElroy sophomore and junior years, but he still put up 1133 receiving yards junior year with McElroy.

Ole Miss threw for over 4000 yards this year. Chad Kelly is a quality college quarterback who is not a highly ranked draft prospect because of major character concerns. Treadwell should get credit for dealing with bad QB's freshman and sophomore year when he put up 608 and 632 yards, but Kelly should get some of the credit for Treadwell's big year in 2015.

He's not going to have AJ Green's height and length at the combine and won't have the athleticism of Jones or Cooper (or Cooper's route running). You could say the same thing about Deandre Hopkins coming out, so that's not to say Treadwell can't be a very good player, but he's not the same elite prospect that these guys were.

Treadwell is a year and 4 months younger than Julio when he came out and a year and 11 months younger than AJ Green. Cooper was very young as well (3 days younger than Treadwell), but was way more polished. He's not going to become AJ Green's size or gain Julio's explosiveness in the next 2 years. I'd rank him behind Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans who were the same age coming out (Evans was even younger and has better height/length than Green).

I would agree that Hopkins is a pretty fair comparison for Treadwell. Similar type of receiver. I don't think Treadwell is going to be a bust or anything like that, I just don't put him on the same level as most WR's that have been drafted that high over the past few years.
My problem with Treadwell at 7 is a question of value.

Is he significantly better than

Michael Thomas
Josh Doctson
Tyler Boyd

If it was up to me and I had to take a WR, I'd trade down about 5-8 spots and take Treadwell or Thomas. The difference between Pick #7 and Pick #14 is a mid 2nd round pick.

Exactly. Unless anyone has sting reasons why Treadwell is clearly superior.

I like Treadwell but at 7 he's questionable for me. Now if Baalke gets a couple calls to move back 2-3 spots I'd be happy to grab him say at 9 or 10 while adding a 3rd or better of he could swing it. Then depending on what went down during free agency we can move around and really hit the holes that are left and upgrade at other spots.
I am thinking the same, move back to the 10th, because at 11, he will taken (a guess), I am not a scout, but can't be bad if he is being compared favorably to Dez.
Then with so many 4th, 5th and 6th, move up from the 3rd to the second at least once (do not think we have enough to move up twice).

I don't know about superior, but from what people in the media are saying, seems the least likely to be a bust. I think he will be gone by the 11th.
They're more likely to trade up for Treadwell than back. There is a clear difference between he and the other bigger receivers available. The only one I've heard mentioned in the same breath is Corey Coleman, who is 5-10, 190 pounds. Treadwell came out of HS at the top of the class, ranked in the same range as Green and Jones. Cooper is just meehh, to me, I wouldn't put him in the rank of top receivers in the league. I was a big fan of Hopkins coming out, thought he should have been the first taken. Same with Alshon Jeffrey when he came out. DeMaryius Thomas (who I think actually was the first receiver drafted that year). These guys are Treadwell's comparisons, and he has the top level character of Thomas or Jeffrey. That is a significant factor, most top WR bomb out through off field character issues, like Justin Blackmon, Josh Gordon, etc. Laquon is easily worth the fourth overall pick, and the 9ers will be lucky if he is there at #7.
Trade down a few spots and take him

He won't be there in a trade down...he's by far the best WR in the draft class.
Zierlein who's doing evaluations at NFL.com has Treadwell at #23 on his board, but I don't have any faith in him. Nolan Nawrocki was good, he did their scouting for the past few years and was with Pro Football Weekly before that. But Zierlein is a dope. Probably watching porn videos like his father got caught doing at work.

Just watched this highlight video. He reminds me of Crabtree

I think he compares to Dez or Hopkins more than crabs. He's a little bigger and fast than Crabtree...I'm starting to get on the bandwagon
Baalke seems to like safe picks in the first round after Aldon and A.J. Jenkins flamed out. Treadwell seems to be about as safe a pick as there is out there. He has the high school bloodlines, the college production, and no off field, or character complaints.
