Hell no to trading a first round pick for Garropolo. He was the 62nd pick of the draft, has limited experience, and only has 2 years remaining on his deal while a first round pick would have 5 years. We suck right now, so even if that's next year's first round pick, that's way too much to give up for Garropolo. I'd rather draft a QB to develop behind Gabbert than give up a 2nd round pick for him let alone a first round pick.

Garropolo is Legit IMO and i had a first round grade on him since before people knew who he was. I would much rather have him, even with only two years, than i would Goff or Lynch. If they intend on taking a QB with the first round pick, i would much rather trade for Garroppolo. YMMV.
Doubt NE would deal him though.

Niners now have to consider making moves and giving something up to get who they want instead of having a top 5 pick. Dumb.

Payton is easily worth a 3rd. I'd make that deal in a heartbeat.
No to Grappolo. He hasn't shown to be anything more than a 2nd round backup at this point. NE has a very QB friendly system. They made everyone look like a starter.
If we're bringing in a guy, I'd rather have Sean hand select a player in the draft. Let him bring some guys in for workouts and go from there. Gabbert is his stop gap.

Lol at trading our 7th pick for 2 years of Garoppolo because you had a first round grade for him when he was almost passed over by every team twice. He's played 2 years and attempted 27 passes, but somehow you've seen enough that you would rather have him than Goff, who is rated as one of the top 5 prospects in this class.

Hold on WRT Payton...I agree he'd be a great hire, but let's wait to see if the Saints fire him (as reported in NO). No need to burn a 3rd rd pick if he becomes part of the coaching carousel. He was already asked by NO reporters if he's mapped out his itinerary, so it'd be a surprise if he's not given a pink slip.
Nix a 1st rd pick to NE for Garrapolo...way too high. He's not proven as an NFL QB. Besides, I'd rather have Gabbert, who under a coach like Payton could reach some pretty lofty heights.
As for Wilkerson, the Jets will do whatever it takes to re-sign him. He's the Star on their DL and their #1 priority to retain. Would I love to have him, you bet, but I doubt he'll get out of NY.
IMHO the #1 move Baalke needs to make is re-sign Alex Boone. He's been our best OL this season, has great versatility, and is still young. If he stays and AD returns (as he's been hinting via Twitter), all of a sudden our starting OL could be good again (Staley- Boone - Kilgore - Brown/AD - Brown/AD; Baalke's challenge is to draft some of the top OL for competition/depth.

Depends on the rankings. Goff is the top of a weak QB class. He's not Luck coming out.
Garoppolo is already multiple steps ahead of Goff. Goff might be great but he's not a fully polished product yet.

To some there is no value in an extremely talented QB being coached up by the best staff in the NFL and learning under the best QB in the game apparently...
People should read the more recent articles about Garoppolo. They see him as the heir apparent to Brady. Kid has developed nicely, and is extremely hungry.

I would say the same about my backups as well, to leverage them as trade bait to suckered teams.

No, it really doesn't. QB's don't gain that much value from sitting on the bench. Garoppolo was a very late 2nd round pick 2 years ago. He isn't worth a top 10 pick now that he has 2 years remaining on his rookie deal when he has been on the field for the equivalent of one game.
A team that is competitive may value someone who is further along in development. A team that is rebuilding should not. I wouldn't trade our 2nd round pick for Garoppolo and probably wouldn't trade our 3rd round pick for him either. Bring in a free agent QB or rookie to compete with Gabbert.

I know a lot of fans including myself want Goff, but even if we still had the 5th pick he might not be there.
We are assuming the Browns and Cowboys at #2 and #4 wouldn't draft him. The Browns in my opinion are more then likely to take a QB.
What is stopping them from taking Goff?
So in retrospect of now having the 7th pick, it makes it even more important for us to trade up into #2 if we want Goff.
If he is IT then you go get him, plain and simple.

He's not that good. My gosh. Skinny kid with a weak arm who gets scared in the big games like against Utah. Wow is he overrated on the WZ. He is no Andrew Luck coming out. He could bust too. Yeah he has some upside. But he is no sure thing at all in the NFL IMO.

I am not saying he is Luck, but I do like him. Is he worth trading up to #2? No idea. That's up to the new regime to decide.
