I don't mind this pick so much, but makes the 4th rounder on Blake Bell (and absolutely no CBs) even more of a head scratcher

Well with Bell and Anderson could be looking towards next year if Davis and McDonald are gone. davis likely wont be re-signed and Mcdonald could be cut if he doesnt turn it around. Carrier should have spot as 2 or 3 long term since he was just re-signed. Celek is probably gone before this season. All that being said could still very well draft a TE in round 2 or 3 with Davis gone. Depends on how Bell develops and how Carrier and McDonald do. Anderson could be PS for a year or 2.

And going forward we have T Smith, 2 guys I like but who have done little, and 1 draft pick coming off an ACL injury. That's definitely not "all good."
Just to ensure I have your argument straight, you wanted to replace two guys who you like, and who have SOME NFL experience, with rookie WRs who have NO NFL experience to improve our passing game? I can understand if we had taken somebody with 1st - 2nd round talent, but I'm glad we spent those picks to bolster our defense instead, which is much more important to the overall health and success of the team.
No, I want us to ADD talent at that position until we end up with productive players.
5 WRs is the minimum you should carry. Simpson is fine, but I'd rather add more young prospects that could beat him out for a roster spot and compete with Patton and Ellington for playing time.
My argument is that WR has been a weakness on this team for a long time and we aren't doing enough to fix it. We have lost NFC Championships and a Superbowl because we didn't have enough talent at WR. Until that is fixed we NEED to take this position more seriously in the draft. The last three years have produced a WEALTH of talented WRs and we've let all of it just pass us by. We need to do better or we won't compete in our tough division.

Originally posted by TexasNiner:we've got plenty of CBs on the roster right now. Just think of Brock, Johnson, Reaser, Acker, Wright, Cook, Ward. 1-2 of these guys won't make the final cut. Brock is #1, Johnson should emerge to #3 if not even #2, Ward will be in the slot. Reaser and Acker were certainly drafted for a reason.

Not at all. We're talking about the 3rd to last pick in the draft, this is taking a flyer out on a player, nothing more, nothing less.
