My understanding is that he will not be eligible for either if he passes up signing from this draft. The rule use to be that the drafting team retained the rights if a player refused to sign. Not sure if there have been changes...still bad for the guy if he's innocent!

More like I didn't set myself up for disappointment by being convinced that a run-first team is going to go nuts taking a bunch of WR's early on in the draft. If people have unrealistic expectations of what sort of system this team is going to run, that's on them.


I've said for months now that defense, particularly the front seven was going to be a priority, because it was clear that is where this the team's strengths need to be in this system. People who lied to themselves and thought that the 49ers were going to go WR, WR, and WR, should have paid better attention to what Baalke and Tomsula and the rest were saying.
