Is there a draft contest this time around?

That's a good idea. Me likey
i'm in. thats a cool idea,
I'll start that thread. Lets see if we can get any mods to promise anything
Ok off you go. I promise I will rename or otherwise provide a title to the winner.

So what are you going for? Each of the 49ers picks? Bonus if you call a trade up or down to pick that player?

Are you asking for suggestions on the parameters?

I would think we should have to include

1st. The Player = 5 points
2nd. The draft pick # = 3 points
3rd. The position = 1 point

So I guess you mean if I predict we take a wr with #15 and we take a different receiver then I get 1 point? Not keen on that. I see a number of arguments that so-and-so is actually listed here or there as a safety not a corner or that he isn't a 3-4 ILB but a 4-3. Let's keep it simple. The player - 10 points. Bonus 2 points for predicting a trade up or down correctly. All entries to be posted here before the draft starts. Mods decision final.

Howzat?

Works for me!
If you need help I wouldn't mind keeping track of entries and totaling the results at the end.
Sounds great! Sweet.
Great idea

I think it might be better to give a different point value to each round. Like if you get our 1st round pick right it's 10 points. Our 2nd round pick is 12 points, 3rd round 14 points etc. each round adds an additional 2 points. I think it is a lot harder to predict our 6th round pick than it is our 1st. Or if you want you could do it the other way around. As in the 1st round pick has the highest value. So 1st round is worth 22 points, 2nd round is 20 points, all the way down to 7th round is worth 10 points.

I think this would help eliminate any ties. Also I think this is a cool idea.

Every pick or just the first 3 rounds?

Every pick?
Just my $.02, but I think you are over thinking it. We have done two types of draft contests in the past, for the Niners picks or a first round mock. Niner picks are simple. Select say 10 payers. Person with the most right wins.

First round mock is exactly that. 32 picks based on draft slot, (not team), so if you think someone will trade up to the 6th spot for a player, select them there regardless of which team picks at that spot.

In both cases tie goes to the earliest entry.
We do the pick 20 players and the person who has the most right wins. Rounds 1-7 if they are undrafted and we sign them they dont count.

They have done the first round mock too where you get points based on being dead on, within a few picks or say 5 but that will take a lot more effort to add up.

For a few years I did a draft guru contest. It's a lot of fun but the problem is it takes time to add up the points and people dont care once the draft is over. Seems a little too late to do anything anyways. 1 day... i use to give them 2-4 weeks. What I did is make say 100 point quiz with different parts. Example:

Who Will Get Drafted 1st (1 Pt Each)... keep listing for like 20 of them
Perryman vs McKinney
Bryon Jones vs Kevin Johnson

What round will this player go in (2 Pts Each).. do say 10 of them for 20 pts total
Jay Ajayi
Duke Johnson
Sean Mannion

Fill in the blank (5 pts each) like 6 of these for 30
name one of the 2 teams who will trade first.....
3rd qb taken will be....
which team trades the most....

Then like a 30 pt 49ers section say 3 pts each.
how many trades do the 49ers make?
what is the first position they take
will they take a qb before before round 5?
will the 49ers take a te?
