You have Beasley pegged as a 34 backer but I think he is who Jacksonville is targeting at 3 even if Williams is on the board (concluded given the Jags offseason moves up front and what they already possess in guys who are excelling in the system like Marks and Davis). Do you not think he can fit as a LEO in Bradley's system ?

You have Trae Waynes as the number one corner but my only concern with him is his 3 cone time which was below average and he chose to stand on his number at his pro day. Does that not raise a small red flag to you ?

Think he could easily play the LEO for the Jags. He is this year's version of Von Miller

I really like Kevin Johnson. Do you think #15 is too high to grab him?

A little high but the greatest need for the team right now is corner. I wouldn't be angry with the choice

Excellent job - Thanks for the work!

If I'm reading your lists right Davis seems to be the most versatile DLine guy.

One of my draft crushes this year is Goldman. I think he plays much faster than given credit for and I feel will be a superb pro.

Out of the two, who would you take and why???

I have Davis one slot above Goldman on my best board. I think Davis' versatility is huge. Goldman is going to be very good for a long time.

OK - going back over this.

If I'm reading things right, you have Brown down as the 5th best 4-3 DT, and not even listed in the other categories, yet #23 overall on your big board. Seems kinda strange. Does his game just not translate as well to a traditional scheme?

Brown needs to be in a 43 scheme. The DTs in this draft are very very good. Would be top three in a normal year.

I kind of like Anthony Harris , but only if he falls significantly.

MD, he doesn't grab out very well on your list. Thoughts?

I have him fifth best as safety. Really liked his play this year. Mediocre measurables, but a very reliable player.

It's really unfortunate that the safety class is terrible this year! I think we need more depth behind an concussion prone Reid and aging Bethea. Love both of those guys and they are studs as long as this stay healthy....but we need more depth for sure.

Not the right year.
MadDog...I love the fact you have Dawson as the #1 ILB, as I believe you are spot on. Throw his 40 out the window, this guy moves side to side with the best of them and hits with some authority. I'm hoping we could peg him in the second round at least. Still I'm wondering if the Niners were to trade back in the first, would you draft him there?

Just depends who is on the board. I think the team as greater needs right now, barring injuries. But, a good player is a good player. Gaining a lot of interest from teams. I think many are hoping he'll be on the board for them in the second round, where I think he lands.

I could see New Orleans taking Dawson in the 2nd ahead of Niners, that is if he still there on the board for them. He could very well go at the top of the 2nd.

Teams have to determine whether they believe his measurables are a concern, and if some of the tardiness in meetings is something correctable.
would you mind to tell us/me your opinion about Owamagbe Odighizuwa?
what is his best fit in our scheme? is he a reliable pass-rusher? or would he be an upgrade over Skuta and a future replacement for Brooks? or would you even think of him as a 5tech-DE???

Answer is very appreciated, as always
My defensive crushes are Carl Davis, Paul Dawson, and Kevin Johnson. I'd love if we got at least one of them.
Does Armstead have the potential to be a monster? A lot of boards have him coming off at 15 to us?

Ditto on Davis. Even his measurables are monster-like. 34''+ arms and 11'' mitts.
I'm also liking what I see from Eli Harold.

Thanks for the detailed analysis MadDog. This is one of the best sources of draft information on the web. You're work/hobby is much appreciated.
However, you may have blown your cover . . . Trent.

Collins is excellent moving forward. Solid in run defense. Smart, excellent leader. The reason he is not the best is coverage skills. Killed Alabama in multiple games this year in blown coverages and just getting beat (my hand hurts pounding the table over and over again). Don't believe the talking heads on Collins. Good player, not great player.

During the game, one person in the CenturyLink press box kept slamming the table when things went wrong for the 49ers. Over. And over. And over. Which is expressly not allowed in any working press box…
The person doing the slamming: Trent Baalke, of course.
MD I've been seeing Eli Harold being mocked more and more in the 1st round. We all know Baalke likes to draft players no one is talking about. Do you think Harold is a Baalke type player and if so do you think #15 is to early?
