Potential draft replacements for Chris Borland, Patrick Willis

"The retirements of Patrick Willis and Chris Borland likely have the San Francisco 49ers adding inside linebacker to their list of draft needs.

The only inside linebackers currently on the roster who have started an NFL game are NaVorro Bowman, Michael Wilhoite and Nick Moody. Bowman missed the 2014 season because of an ACL tear. Wilhoite, signed as an undrafted free agent from Division II Washburn (Kan.) in 2011, made 87 tackles last season; he started all 16 games because of injuries to Bowman and Willis. Moody has two starts and 25 total tackles in two NFL seasons.

Do the 49ers feel comfortable with Wilhoite as a starter moving forward? Even if they do, given Bowman's injury situation, selecting a linebacker in the draft would seem to make sense.

Here are four prospects who could appeal to the 49ers in the early rounds. Picking any of them with the 49ers' No. 15 overall pick would be a reach; San Francisco picks 14th (46th overall) in the second round, but there would be a danger that none of the quartet could be there. Looks like Anthony or Kendricks needs to be the pick if we take an ILB early.

How did Bowman only run a 4.7? He plays way faster than that.

I want Stephone Anthony PERIOD!! He's 6'3 245lbs with size and hitting ability and sideline to sideline ability. I would use the 2nd rounder on him and for the 1st rounder I would trade down and gain a 3rd.

It'll be very interesting to see who they go after. Known interviews were Anthony and Taiwan Jones. From what I understand, it's really going to boil down to BPA. ILB has become a bigger need, and Baalke's methodology is "when value is similar, you go with the greater need".

What is the positional priority for Baalke? That's a different question. I do not know what they are grading these players, but the team is not going to reach when it comes to their board. If we grade an ILB high enough and deem it more of a need over the player at another position with the same value, we'll take him there.

Both Wilson anf Bowman play faster on Tape than their 40-Yard time.

Personally I´m more interested in the short, vertical, broad, and agility drills. If I like the Tape a 4.7 is ok for ILB.

How do you know what you would do without knowing what players will be available when we're on the clock at 15? What if Parker, Shelton or one of the top pass rushers is available?

Denzel Perryman is my pick.. guys a beast. Remind me a lot of Willis but not as fast.

Haven't studied much this year and out of the snap judgements from the few videos I watched on each guy in the poll I would put:

1. Denzel Perryman, Miami
2. Benardrick McKinney, Mississippi State
3. Paul Dawson, TCU
4. Eric Kendricks, UCLA
5. Stephone Anthony, Clemson

Then I see OTC had the same exact list and also added "That said though, I do not grade any of these prospects as 1st round talents." and I would agree with that.

And Amosmac28 I can agree with you I see a Patrick Willis style in his play but slower. Either way I could see us having to polish these guys off and needing a few years of Bowman's guidance to grow into the NFL game. I'm not sure any of them can come in and be a star day 1. Still can't believe we are talking ILB's for the 2nd or 3rd round.

1.BPA DL 2.Perryman/McKinney 3.OLB (if getting rid of Brooks) 4. RB/S
1.BPA CB (waynes or peters) 2.DL 3.BPA ILB 4.BPA RB/S

Lots of options I just hope we get Waynes/Peters, Perryman, be nice if Gurley slipped to our 3rd but wont happen. I think I'd rather take DL next year since we have Dockett for 2 years and Carradine, Dial/Dorsey/Williams (depending on who plays NT) at DE. I'd be perfectly fine taking DE early next year and passing on it this year.

Really Like all these guys in the 2nd round or Later. They all would fit nicely with the 49ers.

Denzel Perryman. He is a natural born leader and will help fill that void left by Pwilly. DP sets the tone and is an intimidating presence in the middle of the field.
