They'll be handed out at the Owners Meetings in March.

Sorry if they have already been assigned, I've never read or heard about them yet. When is the nfl going to assign them?

Possibly a 4th rounder for Whitner and that is it I think, wont be announced for a few weeks.

It should be better then a 4th he did make the pro bowl. A couple of yrs ago we got a 3rd for Goldson & he didnt even make the pro bowl

" the primary factor in the value of the picks awarded is the average annual value of the contract the player signed with his new team,"
Doesn't tha signing of Antoine Bethea cancel out tha loss of Whitner ????

I did not know that everyday u learn something new. I always thought they valued the comp picks by playing time or b their self accomplishments on the field.

MOst league sources are assuming the 49ers gain a 4 and a 7.

I expect 2 comp picks this year (most sites assume a 4th and a 7th)

Gains

S Antoine Bethea

Losses

S Donte Whitner
CB Tarell Brown
RB Anthony Dixon

* The cutoff date for signings to count in the formula is June 1
* It is believed that players who sign one-year, minimum-salary contracts with no or minimal signing bonuses do not count in the formula.

Nobody knows the exact formula the NFL uses, games started seems to figure into it but the average salary appears to be the biggest determinant.
