49ers Pre-Combine draft strategy projection | Page 2

I have been very high on drafting Danny Shelton. However, with the projection that he goes top 10, it seems I need a new wish list. The no brainer move is to target White or Parker, unless they're gone too. This draft seems to be thin at the top, with not a lot seperating players from the teens to mid 2nd round. What is your preferred pre-combine draft strategy?

49ers Pre-Combine draft strategy projection

Target Shelton @ 15 (or another NT)

Target WR @ 15 (Cooper, White, Parker)

Trade down once; grab extra pick

Multiple trade downs (target multiple players round 2-4)

Trade up

Food for thought.

"During their recent coaching search, at least one former defensive coordinator told team officials that, aside from Kaepernick taking off from the pocket, the 49ers didn't have any offensive weapons that worried defenses. In other words, the 49ers could use a dangerous down-field target."

The #49ers WR coaches are among the few SF assistants in Indy, which presumably indicates where the team's offseason priority lies.

So what you're telling me is that they are going all defense with their first four picks.

Well, with Vernon hurt that was absolutely true. Boldin and Frank are dependable but don't scare defenses. The guys in this draft that truly scare defenses are:

DGB
Gordon/Gurley/Coleman
Devin Smith
Dorsett

Even if we go DL in the first we can still get two of the above if we trade back in to the second or early third.
