Do we have a quarterback in our range who projects to better than Kaep?

Yes and no. What I do know is Pete Carroll is definitely going to pick either Gurley or Gordon to replace Beast Mode when he is done, if we don't compete to land Gordon (I don't want to take another ACL risk with Gurley), I would be mega pis*ed if we had to go up against Gordon as a Seahawk.

There's no guarantee Seattle takes Gordon or Gurley. They have Turbin and Michael. I could see Atlanta, Baltimore, Detroit, Jets, Tampa Bay all as viable landing spots for Gordon or Gurley.

Don't forget Minnesota.

No.

There is one backup QB I like in the mid rounds (Garrett Grayson) and one high upside small school QB I like in the 7th - UDFA Range (Jerry Lovelocke).

I haven´t watched enough Film of Sean Mannion and Brandon Bridge yet.

There aren't any QB's in is draft that project better than Kaep.

This fascination with pocket QB's has to stop. Russell Wilson won the superbowl last year and Kaep has gotten us really really far.

We're at our best offensively when we treat our QB like he's a mobile QB.

Seattle has been stocking up on mobile QB's so it's obvious what they think the future of the position is...
Brandon Bridge looks good. Tell me Cardale Jones isn't a beast...

I don't know what high round picks are legitimately projected to do well in the NFL. But I have seen some great qb play in the Bowl games and this season in general. With that said, we always need to be looking to improve at all positions, especially the most important one.

Kaep has got some talent, but Im thinking so much about improvement, and Im worried that Kaep doesn't have everything it takes to win Superbowls, and I really would like to have some 'Joe Montana/Aaron Rodgers' talent leading us.

There are some good quarterbacks coming out and you guys know more than me about the talent, but could we actually target a qb in this draft who can take Kaeps job in year 1--or developed to take over longterm? Or should we pass over the position and grab a vet, because no one this year is skilled enough to be a quality starter?

Qb discussion...
It's got to be something else going on that the average guy don't quite understand. Why would you even consider getting rid of a guy that took this team to the SB and would have won had the coaches called 3 dumb plays at the end. a SB in half a season starting, and nfc championship his first full season starting with the wideouts we have and the coaching. Sometimes I wonder about the football IQ of some of you guys.
Bryce Petty is going to be a good quarterback.

12 gauge is as accurate as a smooth bore

There is no doubt in my mind Bryce Petty is the real deal, yes Baylor might have lost by 1 lousy point, but come on 550 yards of passing, that is just ridiculous !

Of course I can't guarantee you 100%, but I just can't see Pete Carroll willing to pass up on either Gurley or Gordon. Turbin and Michael are not Beast Mode, they need a legit playmaking RB if they hope to get anywhere near in replacing Lynch.

Don't get me wrong, I want Petty too, but you have to look at the situation. First off, you have to look at how any teams will be needing QBs, Bucs, Titans, Jets, may be Bears, Rams, may be Browns, may be Saints and these are just the teams drafting before us. The question is how many QBs do you think we go before Petty ? Mariota, Winston and Hundley perhaps ? Even if you want to take Petty in the 2nd, I am not sure you can get him.

But, even if Petty was available in the 2nd, you will need to make a compromise to get him, may be give up a 1st round WR and take Gordon instead or give up Gordon and take say Duke Johnson in the 3rd if he is still available. Not an easy choice.

Unless Seattle trades up Gordon (and probably Gurley too) will be gone long before they pick. We simply can't stop them from taking a game-breaking back this year if they really want one. Telvin Coleman would dominate in their system too.

Are you sure ? You think is a piece of cake for Seattle to trade up ? Have you not read about what Baalke said about the cost being way too high to trade up to get Odell Beckham last year ? Beckham went at 12 overall right ? Baalke said it would have cost us a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd and may be more. You think Seattle will be willing to blow that many picks ? I don't think so somehow.

I'm not saying they will trade up. I'm saying that Duke Johnson, Telvin Coleman, and Amir Abdullah are potentially game-breaking backs too and they will all be available where Seattle picks. We can't stop them from getting at least one of those 5 backs.

That I am not going to argue with you, but they ain't Melvin Gordon.
I hope the 49ers pick a QB in the first couple of rounds of this draft. The 49ers are one bad hit on kap from gabbert as the starter. And if kap gives the same performance next year for the new HC, he's probably riding the bench before the season ends. Yeah, the o line had issues but kap stunk it up too.

Bryce Petty will be a very good QB the only knock on him from scouts is that he locks on the target and reading defense but overall he has a bright future in the NFL, That 550 yards shows that he can carry a team behind his back because there was no running game going to Baylor and the only thing going for them was Bryce and he managed to throw 3TD.

Kaepernick is the only quarterback on the roster for next year.

So it seems pretty obvious that we have to add at least one quarterback in the draft and free agency.

I have not spent much time looking at which quarterbacks will be available in either free agency or the draft.

This whole quarterback draft class is going to be thrown for a loop, If Jameis Winston decides not to enter the draft.
