He won't have time to sit in a pocket behind our line, they suck in pass pro and Mannion moves like molasses. With that being said I'd definitely take him in the third if there, kid does have potential

Has a chance to be one of those guys to make a crazy push WAY up the board during draft season. After MM goes off the board early, and some team unwisely gambles on Winston, there is a black hole at the QB spot and a LOT of need.
These teams are QB hungry in this draft
TB, Titans, Jets, Washington, Rams, Texans
And there are simply not enough bodies after Bradford, Sanchez/Folk, and whatever other scraps are picked through pre-draft.

I see a lot of pro level skills in him
He's my draft crush too but he has a little wind up before he throws. Despite the hitch in his wind up he gets the ball out faster than kap does as a senior in college compared to our vet QB.

Kap is still young in regards to his development, so I'm not ready to give up on him. Still, I wouldn't nind taking Mannion as a safeguard just to cover our a**.

I get it, but I think it is important to bring in another young QB. I also think we need to look at more traditional quarterbacks that can stand in the pocket. I am not giving up on Kap, but I remember Green Bay would draft a QB almost every year when Brett Favre was their QB. Who are some of the college QB's coming out this year that you like?

I like this kid. I think Mariota and Winston have a chance to be flops. I just think that the NFL needs QB who can sit in the pocket, read defenses and make the throws.

Following his junior season, Mannion had a 3rd round grade from the draft advisory board. He came back and had a terrible senior season. Part of that was a lack of talent around him, but I don't think his draft stock improved and he showed he can't handle pressure. CBS has him as a 5th-6th round prospect and Mel Kiper has him as his #8 QB prospect. NFLdraftscout has him as a 5th-6th round prospect as well. I think he'll go in the 4th round because of his size and arm (and he can go through progressions which I guess makes him "pro ready"), but he has a tough combination of horrible mobility and pocket presence. WalterFootball still has Mannion rated ahead of Bryce Petty and I expect Petty to be taken before him.

Oregon State QB Sean Mannion checks in at 6-05.4, 229. The prototype.

Very similar to Mike Glennon according to Charles Davis and Mike Mayock (Senior Bowl Day 2 Practice).

Justin Hardy made him look good in senior bowl practice today, hauling in a 40 yard bomb.

BUMP
This guy is legit, he has natural zip on his passes and puts the ball where the coaches (at combine) ask him to put it. He is a project but hey we got Colin and I'm very ok with that.
Let Colin sink, or most likely swim and develop a true pocket passer for a rainy day.
He is Ryan Mallett without the personal/maturity issues

In all honesty only Mariota and Winston, Mariota being my favorite because I'm from Hawaii so yes homerism involved. The rest is very unimpressive to me, maybe Petty in the mid rounds. I've changed my mind on Mannion after seeing him Senior Bowl week, Glennon is the right comparison

whats wrong with glennon ? why the gag smiley ? he did well for a dysfunctional ass franchise. not his fault lovie decided to ignore a young, cheap qb and instead signed mcclown. glennon is a great backup to have, and has starting potential.
Im also unimpressed with mid round qbs, this year and I usually completely dont like gunslingers who are immobile and do dumb turnovers, but imo mannion is the best qb out of the bunch, in terms of actually growing into a potential starter. everyone else has very low ceiling. petty can be ok in a heavy option system but thats about it.
I have him as a #3 QB

Mannion wasn't very impressive at the combine...if Baalke drafts a QB I'd hope he'd look at Cody Fajardo, who looked good at the combine. Shane Carden's another possibility. I just didn't see the zip on the balls Mannion threw that excited me at all.
