Also, there will likely be a competition between Kilgore and Martin. Id imagine the loser could be in the competition for a starting OG spot.

I think OT depth is a lot more critical. I have wondered if they let Boone compete for an OT position if he could win the RT job.

I think Kilgore has the C pretty much sewn up assuming he comes back alright from his injury. He was playing pretty well before he went down.

I could see Chicago going with Landon Collins at safety, going with a pass rushing OLB, going with a CB....etc If they cut Brandon Marshall and Cooper or White are still on the board, I wouldn't be shocked to see them grab one of those guys.

I agree with the Landon Collins pick, I can totally see Chicago add to Kyle Fuller and the secondary. That would be a pretty solid secondary Ed Donatell will get to work with, i see nothing but good things on defense for Chicago they should be stoked!!!

I'd be happy with either or Danny Shelton or Eddie Goldman. I think there's good value in the later rounds for a CB.

I think Chicago will throw a curve pick and select Vic Beasley.

That would be interesting. Briggs is no spring chicken.

Even that's an under statement. Wasn't he 5th or 6th on PFF rankings? He has no competition.

Kilgore was our best lineman and was playing very well just before getting injured.

Martin has more potential but Kilgore was a better C AND was our best OL before he got hurt.

What do you mean you don't see it.............before his injury, Kilgore was the best performing member of the offensive line. He did a very good job. Martin has a high ceiling but he's very raw, there was a night and day difference between when Kilgore was playing and when Martin was in there.


Providing that he recovers fully from his injury, I can't see any reason why his spot at center would be under any real threat if he continues to play as well as he did.

I never said that, I said that the lose would be available to could compete for a OK position. I think the Niners have prettyou good depth at OK and they should focus on drafting a OT.

Casey Hampton was bad ass. I don't know that Casey Hampton is a few steps back at all. That's a high bar.

I strongly disagree with this. In my opinion, Staley is still our best OL, by a large margin. He is regularly responsible by the most difficult and physically demanding assignment for each play, and he tends to get the job done. Kilgore performed well, but he wasn't asked to do much. He's technically sound and quick, but he's not nearly the natural athlete that Martin is. I'd expect Martin's strength to increase dramatically through this offseason, and I'd expect a legitimate competition between the two. I would not be surprised by either of the two winning the competition.

Agreed. Shelton is more like Hampton in the sense that they aren't as quick as Ngata/Wilfork. Just how I saw it getting to watch him play every year. It'll be interesting to see if he goes to the Bears and plays NT for Vic (although they can try Paea in the middle of the line).
