This dude has bust written all over him unless a team is willing to dedicate 2 or 3 years to coach him up. Just raw athleticism and physical power.

He's going to drop because of this. You just don't know what you're getting. We just drafted AA based on his physical traits and potential, but Oakman has been at it longer and should be dominating right now.

Oakman came in at the senior bowl 6'7 and a half and 269. That's probably going to help him more than anything else. He was listed at 6'9, which is just about too tall to play DL in the NFL.
The 269 is surprising too. Though he was gonna be at least 280. At that height, he's now a little small to be considered much of a 5-tech' guy. He could easily add weight with his frame, but I've never been a fan of players adding weight. Cutting weight almost always makes 'em better players IMO. He's already kind of pumped up anyway.
He almost doesn't have a position. He's not a good enough pass rusher to play DE in a 4-3, and he's a too small to be a 3-4 DE.
Obviously, this could all change with a cycle of steroids (which I wouldn't doubt he was taking last year), but that usually just results in streaky play.

Yeah I agree with everything you said...if he's chilling there in the 4th or 5th I wouldn't hate dropping a comp pick on him. I didn't think he was going be 269lbs. It will be interesting to see the speed and length stats.

To think he was projected to go in the 1st last year and now he is a 4th round to undrafted. I wouldn't waste a pick on him the only notable thing he will do in the NFL is block a field goal.

There's hope for him. He's too physically gifted to not get drafted. Just like Michael Johnson coming out of Ga Tech, coaches will be convinced they can mold him into a productive player. My guess is that a team grabs him in the 3rd-4th. He's going to interview great and add value to the locker room.
It may seem odd, but a team could even jump the gun and grab him in the 2nd. He actually seems like a Baalke pick in the 3rd to me.

Oakman's got some skills, but the guy I'd love to see Baalke draft is his teammate, Andrew Billings. I think this kid can be something special at NT in the NFL. He's young, but definitely has the tools. Not at all sold that Ian Williams is the answer at NT for us.
