In his chat today, Maiocco said the buzz is that the Niners are not high on any of the CB's and that the target of a trade up is a WR. Discuss.

Would certainly be interesting. It would mean that this coaching staff (and Baalke) are high on the CBs that are on the roster already.
I am not very confident on the group that we have, but I do not watch them in practice every day.
I just hope we don't trade up for a WR and have another miss like Jenkins.

I don't think a trade up for Evans or Beckham, which I think would be their targets, would put them in the Jenkins category.

I hope not. I have seen a lot of WRs that were supposed to be great at the next level turn around and do nothing. I worry about WR more than any other position in a trade up scenario. Especially for a run-first team that has not shown any ability to develop receivers. I will be cautiously optimistic if that happens.

Today on nfl insiders they said the "hit rate" on WR in the first over like the last decade is only like 36%. They also mentioned on that program the niners are in search of a speed WR and listed ore st cooks as the potential target. Honestly Evans, beckham and cooks are the only WR I could see trading up for.

Not surprised.
Not in love with any specific CB in this draft personally.

And he also said he doesn't see the 9ers drafting Colin Kaepernick back in 2011 cause he didn't fit the offense.

WR's are the only position i would trade up, i am sure Baalke would be satisfied NOT to reach for a top DB prospect & take a chance on a small school DB like Pierre Desir in the later rounds
Please let it be ODB

Who knows with the 49ers that could mean we trade up for a CB. I don't know why we wouldn't be high on Dennard, Verrett or Fuller. If we trade up for a WR seems like it would be Evans, Beckham or Cooks. Maybe we trade up for a WR and we take Breeland in the 2nd although I'm not sure he would be a better day 1 slot CB than Verrett or Fuller. I guess we have Wright or Cox that could do that job as well. Maybe they are really high on Cooks in the slot playing press. It's not like our cupboards are bare, one of those 3 guys could be our #3 and the others #4/5 with Morris 6. The draft will create more competition but I don't know if we necessarily have to have a #3 CB or a #3 WR (Lloyd or Patton). Could stock pile picks for next year in case we would lose Crabtree and Aldon. Then again we might work on replacing them this year. I don't see us getting rid of Aldon but if he gets into more trouble he might force us too. We don't know what will happen in the next year.

Not surprised.
Only way I'd want a CB early is if Fuller fell to 30. After that it is Desir and then the safety/CB combos of Exum and Joyner.
I'll take a WR in the 1st, Desire in the second any day though.
