This draft is about as exciting as mobile home bingo...

I like Cooks a lot, but is he really worth going up to get at #17 when there will be a ton of quality receivers around at #30? I'd be just as happy taking Latimer, Robinson, Benjamin, or Adams and holding onto the extra picks for the purpose of improving depth elsewhere.

I understand we have a surplus of picks and not many available roster spots, but I don't believe in moving up just for the sake of moving up. If we're going to move up, I think it should be all the way up for Evans. Otherwise we should just sit tight and take the best available WR or CB at #30.

Like the first two picks. After that it's kind of meh. I'd rather not give up a second and a fourth to move up in first round like that. Too much to give up in a draft that is loaded in the second round. I'd rather offer a third and maybe a conditional pick. If that's not good enough for the Ravens, then f**k em and just stay where were at.

I've been back and forth on Cooks but in my view, yes he is. If the 49ers are in win now mode, they need the most polished guy they can get. They can't get Watkins, so I would say Cooks is the next best choice for what they need. Terrific route runner, terrific hands, pretty much all the knocks on him have nothing to do with the basic facets of being a receiver. He's a guy I could see coming in right away and making a major impact compared to guys like Latimer and Benjamin who are talented but very raw and someone like Robinson who brings nothing to the table that Crabtree, Boldin and Patton don't already bring.


They need to add speed and explosiveness on offense, Cooks does that and he's shown that he has the work ethic to improve whatever he needs to in order to become an impact receiver in the NFL.

I like that you actually looked at trade value but I don't expect the 49ers to give up a 2nd rounder to move up. Giving up Tennessee's 3rd plus a late 4th is enough to get them within range. While the Jimmy Johnson value chart still applies, teams have tended to follow it somewhat loosely. In this draft, considering how deep the middle rounds are, I think you'll see teams willing to compromise in the 1st round to pick up extra picks in latter rounds. I don't think the 49ers need to give up their 2nd rounder to move up to picks 17-20.

In a draft that is top-heavy with little depth in the middle, that might be true but I think come Thursday you'll see teams taking lower points in return to be able to add extra picks.

Yea back 3/5s of this draft is mehh but it is because we seriously have 3-5 "open" spots on our roster. Cooks, Desir, Mewhort would be players with the "guaranteed" final 53 attached their name. After that is all about competition.

Mewhort would bump Snyder or one of the fringe players from the roster. He's still compete against Martin, even Marquardt.

Thomas is the only QB that our OCD coach has been physically seen with besides those at the "Local" pro day IIRC

Exum is versatile enough that he is worth a look, he'd compete against Craig Dahl, maybe provide enough reason to send Ventrone off the roster.

From this point is basically camp fodder.

Storm would be the the 5th RB - 6th if you can't Miller as a back. We'd have to trade Hunter or James for him to make the final 53. He's probably on the PS though.

Gator would be the SAK competition against Carrier but especially for the more traditional TE Celek.

Xavius Boyd is basically taken to give us rights on a player to mold after Skuta who could play both inside and outside.

To be very clear this isn't want I want to happen. It is what I think happens in regards to players.

I do think that we don't give up the 2nd but perhaps the Titans 3rd, our 4th, plus a player -- perhaps LMJ to the Ravens But again they aren't the team that I actually think we make a trade with. I'll reveal that if I do another mock or on draft night before that team goes on the clock o:

I agree. I think he is a viable target at 129 but my thought was why not just get the ONE qb we know Harbaugh has spent time with with an "extra" pick rather than wait.

Possibly but did you see my reasoning? It fits the MO of our use of picks. I think could end moving up higher with the use of a pick from next year but I just don't see Baalke going into next year's picks.
