This is true. I wouldn't mind trading up for Gilbert or Dennard.

Not sure I agree. Sure, right now our starting WRs are better than our starting CBs.

But our WRs are not under long contract. And over the last several years the 9ers have shown they have a MUCH easier time finding CBs to fill in than WRs.

It really seems like our success rate with FA CBs is dramatically better than it is with WRs. Same is true with our draft picks...

I posted this in another tread, but I have seen that some people are thinking he is a possession WR and Benjamin would be just as good! Evans is a play maker and would be perfect for the Niners! I won't be upset if we moved up for him, we need offensive play makers now!

25% of his catches were for 20+ yds, he averaged 14.13 yards from the LOS and had a YAC of 7.63. (against the SEC)

If we took Evans I wouldn't be unhappy as long as we didn't trade up very far to get him and then as long as we then traded right back up to land Verrett or one of the other high ranked CBs.

If were trading up and giving up a lot, I'd rather land Cooks/Beckham and Gilbert though .

If were trading up and giving up a lot, I'd rather land Cooks/Beckham and Gilbert though .

No I agree it might be too much to go up and grab Evans, If we could make a similar trade like what we did for Reid last year ( yes I know a pipe dream) for Beckham I would be pumped! He would help open the field and create miss matches for Davis.

Give up another 3rd rd pick to Dallas for Beckham and grab Roby in the 2nd and I'd be happy with that! I think it will all depend on if teams jump on QB's early in the draft, if not we might be able get some value for our 1st and grab some more 2nd rd picks (or a QB needy team's next yrs 1st).

I love all this hypothetical stuff. But no one knows what the price would be. Based on last year where one 3rd got us up 13 places, I'm sure a 3rd and 2nd could get us to top 10, but top 5 is a huge ask. It relies on people being willing to trade down at the time, and how determined they are to do so, and how much other offers are there.



I could definitely see us moving to top 10, but not many of us have been any good at predicting our first round targets previously, so who is really going to have any idea this time.

This is how this should be done also,

Raiders give up their Pick 5, and get Pick30, Pick56, Pick61, Pick94, and L. James

The Niners would still have Pick5 (r1), Pick77(r3), Pick 100(r3), Pick129(r4), Pick170(r5), Pick242(r7), Pick243(r7), Pick245(r7), and we still have the ability to trade back up if needed to because we still have our late rounders


I understand this draft is stacked but we really dont need much, we are already a complete team we dont really need alot of rookies, we need a possible homerun to get us over the hump

I don't think we would have to go all the way to pick 5 to get Evans...There has been a lot of talk about the Bucs taking Manziel at 7. I think if he is still there at 11-12 we should make a move...if not we could wait and move up a little for ODB JR and grab a bigger WR in the 3rd.

Not a bad roster analysis, but to temper it slightly, you have to look at what is our 2015 or 2016 roster looking like - how many may have retired or moved on? Anyone selected this year doesn't necessarily have to do much this year, depending on injury/suspension, but Baalke will be looking at people that may be ready to start next year or the year after.

Yes - we could move up to top 5 - but giving up 4 of our first 5 picks along with our only kick returner is too high a price. None of the top 5 are a kick return option, and there may not be one there at 77.

And I wouldn't say we have 46 players who can count on being on our roster, and we would be unlikely to carry 6 WRs plus Osgood. We do have 46 players who are capable of being on a roster - possibly more - but they don't all have a guarantee of it. If we can get 4 or 5 picks in first 3 rounds, then we can get more experimental with later picks. (Injury concerns, etc.)

With the fastest tight end
