Terrible, Ridiculous, Unrealistic Mock Draft You'll All Hate

I used http://first-pick.com/NFL/DraftGame.aspx This is kinda fun because it's random, so different players are available at the 30'th pick every time you run it. In this instance, Jason Verritt dropped to the 30'th pick (doesn't happen very often) so I riffed off that to see how the rest of the draft could play out: Round 1 Pick 30: Jason Verrett, CB, TCU You all know who this guy is Round 2 Pick 24: Dominique Easley, DT, Florida A guy to pair with Tank in a few years. Round 2 Pick 28 (CAR): Donte Moncrief, WR, Ole Miss Traded the 3rd #13 and #30 for this pick to get exactly the kind of WR the 49ers need. Round 2 Pick 29: Deone Bucannon, SS, Washington State Eventual replacement for Bethea, Maybe a bit of a reach, but a big hitter. Very important for trolling other fans with animated .gifs. Round 3 Pick 36 (COMP): Travis Swanson, C, Arkansas Knows how to play his position, needs to get stronger. I prefer that to the reverse. Round 4 Pick 14 (JAX): Bruce Ellington, WR, South Carolina Traded the 4 (29) and 5 (30) for this pick. Possibly the next Steve Smith, played PG in college, explodes off the line. With this simulator, who drops to the 7'th is always an interesting crapshoot. I went with what I felt were the best players available that fit 49ers needs. Round 7 Pick 27: Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma Future insurance at CB Round 7 Pick 28: Marcel Jensen, TE, Fresno State Has the physical talent and the hands to play TE in the NFL, could give Vance some sorely-needed competition Round 7 Pick 30: Marion Grice, RB, Arizona State 3rd down back type of guy, could give LMJ some competition, not an inside runner.

Nothing wrong with that draft at all. Like both CB and WR picks.

Overall, I like it. But, I'd sub Matthews for Moncrief...much larger and more consistent body of work. I'd also get another CB earlier...Desir, Dontae Johnson, Breeland...longer arms and great size.

I can see your POV here, personally I think the 49ers need more help at WR than at CB, assuming Culliver is still in the long term picture. I keep vacillating between Matthews and Moncrief as well. Re: largeness, according to at least one site, Moncrief weighs 10 lb. more than Matthews but is an inch shorter.

Overall, I like the talent level that we're bringing in to the team.

Not sure sure about Colvin though. He's more of a zone corner, and we play more man to man. He's more of a tampa 2 CB.

Why self doubt? Awesome players fall all the time in the draft because teams overlook them. I doubt Ellington would be around that late but as long as we draft him I'll be happy as hell.

Fun site. I managed to get Sammy Watkins at pick #11, trading all of my top 100 picks except my last 3rd and the COMP pick.
