Missing key ingredient to beating seattle and just becoming a better team overall!!!

Not mentioned much, but I think we need to get younger in many key areas. Gore is past his prime and not sure how much longer Vernon can play at the level he has. We need to infuse a young WR that can make a difference, maybe it's Patton but I'm all for drafting another with our top picks. And there are the holes on defense we'll need to fix. IMO we're going to need several homeruns this draft.

Key player ages are important, but it's an uneven issue because some athletes are almost done in their late 20's and some are still going strong in their early 30's. Team age is definitely an over-rated issue. The Niners average age is 26.56, but that's less than 2 years older than the NFL's youngest team, the Rams, at 24.98.

Well they have certainly been trying. Hunter, LMJ, and Lattimore all show that the 49ers are well aware of Gore's age and have been trying to find a good replacement. Same can be said with TE, they did get Vance McDonald in the 2nd right? He had the rookie jitters and struggles but at times he flashed some real promise.
If they replace Whitner with one of the two or three best safeties in the draft, which is a distinct possibility, they'll have a pretty young secondary assuming they don't bring Rodgers back. They have a lot of developing youth on the O-line and the D-line.
We beat Seattle twice in 2011 because they had Tarvaris Jackson at QB, no Richard Sherman, and their D wasnt even close to as good.

Has nothing to do with having a return man.

There is no missing key ingredient. We almost beat them in the playoffs in their loud stadium even though a lot of calls didn't go our way. Had Kap made a better decision at the very end - we still would have won the damn game. We had it and blew it. It happens...

If you go back and look at the first game we won in the 2011 season against them at candlestick, the only reason we won is because Ted Ginn returned a punt return for a touchdown toward the end of the game and we scraped by 19-17 or something like that. So clearly, even with tarvaris jackson at qb and no richard sherman they were a good team. Also, back then their defense was pretty good I think you might not remember those games as well as you think. I really think we need a returner who will be a homerun threat and can get us good field position off each return which is Crucial in any close game, and I think there will be a lot of close games with seattle and other nfc west teams in the future and other.
Our Missing Ingrediant that is lacking is a KILLER INSTICT!! This team too much packs it in when they are ahead say 24-13. They need to get more aggressive on offense and defense with more blitzes.
9er2k......your killin me dude !!!! We need to be better everywhere. We need to have a great kicking game , a great punt returner and special teams has to be excellent. We can't make mistakes , we have to manage the clock better....The NFC is going to be so competitive you can not afford to screw up even once. I do not think anyone is going to put a team on the field that's totally invincible. Like we were in the 80's we just took what we wanted and no one could stop us but those days are over so the whole team has to click.

this is actually a good plan. Best way to beat the Seahawks is to keep playing the 2011 Seahawks.

This is the truth. Seattle played without a true #1 receiver all year and without a true #1 or #2 receiver for most of the 2nd half of the season. Next year with Harvin at 100% and Rice or Tate at the #2 role Seattle's offense gets better without signing 1 free agent. Niner's need to get a little better at all facets.
It will have to start the coaches utilizing their own players strength and game planning for their opponents' weaknesses. Kap needs to master the QB position and understanding how to take advantage of what the defense if giving him (progression, progression, progression). We need more speed in the defensive back field side of the defense. We need speedy receivers. Aldon Smith needs to stay out of trouble. Lastly, Baalke needs to let The Coach have a say on drafting offensive players.

Improve/Upgrade

Center: Draft/Free Agency
CB: Draft/Free Agency
Safety: Draft/Free Agency
FB: Bruce Miller (can he get any better as a receiver???) Draft/Free Agency

RB: Have Lattimore to give it a go
NT: A Healthy Ian Williams
WR: Quinton Patton? Draft/Free Agency
2nd TE: Vance McDonald??? Draft/Free Agency

I would love to see the utilization of the FB more ala Tom Rathman and arguably the best FB of all time Larry Centers whose raced up 100 receptions in a season, basically a Delanie Walker playing FB.

12 picks are a lot of bullets in the gun to hit some targets.
The biggest difference between Seattle and the 49ers is Seattle has a stadium specifically designed to increase crowd noise to the point where opposing teams are deaf. We wore ear plugs in the last game. The league should make them change this BS. It's 1 thing to have loud fans and a totally different thing to design the stadium to increase the noise.

We beat them at home 2 years in a row. In the last 2 years Seattle has lost 8 games, 1 of which was at home. They are 7 times more likely to lose on the road. That is unheard of. We are already the better team and with all of our picks this year plus players like Tank Carradine and Lattimore coming in and young players like Patton and McDonald developing we will be fine. We almost beat them in Seattle wearing ear plugs and being screwed by the refs to boot.
