05
1 1 Alex Smith QB Utah -- No grade (don't want to debate it)
2 33 David Baas G Michigan -- B+ (effective NFL starter)
3 65 Frank Gore RB Miami (Fla.) -- A+
3 94 Adam Snyder T Oregon -- B+ (very valuable backup at every position, signed as a starter with another team)
5 137 Ronald Fields DT Mississippi State -- B+ (Made roster, effective rotational player for several years in the league)
5 174 Rasheed Marshall WR West Virginia -- C- (Made roster, but always looked out of place at WR)
6 205 Derrick Johnson CB Washington -- B (A good contributor as a 4th corner for a year or two)
7 215 Daven Holly DB Cincinnati -- A (Started for the Browns after they signed him off our practice squad.)
7 223 Marcus Maxwell WR Oregon -- B (Hung around on our practice squad for a while, could not take the next step)
7 248 Patrick Estes T Virginia -- B (Made our roster I believe for one or two years?)
7 249 Billy Bajema TE Oklahoma State -- A+ (A player in the league)

06
1 6 Vernon Davis TE Maryland -- A (Has always been a little raw, despite epic athleticism)
1 22 Manny Lawson OLB North Carolina State -- B (Good player at everything except what we drafted him to do)
3 84 Brandon Williams WR Wisconsin -- D (He had some moments, but wasn't very effective)
4 100 Michael Robinson RB Penn State -- B (Great special teams player, teammate, and role player)
5 140 Parys Haralson DE Tennessee -- A- (Has been a starter, and a solid NFL player when you consider where he was drafted)
6 175 Delanie Walker TE Central Missouri State -- A (A good TE, great athlete, does lots of things. A poor mans Vernon Davis, living in his shadow)
6 192 Marcus Hudson DB North Carolina State -- B (A good contributor for several years)
6 197 Melvin Oliver DE Louisiana State -- B+ (Got a lot of playing time for us for a couple years)
7 254 Vickiel Vaughn DB Arkansas -- C (Had talent, but was lost in the shuffle. Had the injury bug)

07
1 11 Patrick Willis ILB Mississippi -- A+
1 28 Joe Staley OT Central Michigan -- A- (Not elite, but recognized by his peers as a pro-bowler)
3 76 Jason Hill WR Washington State -- C- (Still in the league. Not sure what happened with him)
3 97 Ray McDonald DE Florida -- A+ (A darn good player, in Justin Smith's shadow)
4 104 Jay Moore LB Nebraska -- No grade (Always injured. We could never even evaluate him)
4 126 Dashon Goldson SAF Washington -- A+ (Fourth round. Pro Bowl. Great pick)
4 135 Joe Cohen DT Florida -- F (Never did anything, nor flash any ability)
5 147 Tarell Brown CB Texas -- A- (A solid starter in the fifth round)
6 186 Thomas Clayton RB Kansas State -- B (Showed plenty of ability. But injuries derailed his career)

08
1 29 Kentwan Balmer DE North Carolina -- D- (Is he still in the league? If not, change it to an "F")
2 39 Chilo Rachal G USC -- D+ (Just can't pass block. Which makes him unplayable)
3 75 Reggie Smith DB Oklahoma -- B- (Solid but unspectacular)
4 107 Cody Wallace C Texas A&M -- D (We needed a backup center, he stuck around for a few years)
6 174 Josh Morgan WR Virginia Tech -- A+ (Great pick in the sixth round)
7 214 Larry Grant OLB Ohio State -- A (Great pick in the seventh round)

Flip that draft upside down and it makes more sense.

09
1 10 Michael Crabtree WR Texas Tech -- No grade (His ability is intertwined with the Smith debate. Don't want to debate it)
3 74 Glen Coffee RB Alabama -- D (We should have researched this guy more)
5 146 Scott McKillop LB Pittsburgh -- C (Meh)
5 171 Nate Davis QB Ball State -- No grade (Don't want to debate it)
6 184 Bear Pascoe TE Fresno State -- A (Lots of playing time on the Super Bowl champions team)
7 219 Curtis Taylor DB Louisiana State -- B (Hung around with us for a while. Not a bad 7th round pick)
7 244 Ricky Jean-Francois DT Louisiana State -- A+ (An excellent backup for a 7th round pick)

10
1 11 Anthony Davis T Rutgers -- B (Young, raw and improving)
1 17 Mike Iupati G Idaho -- A (A powerful, great, athletic player)
2 49 Taylor Mays SS USC -- D+ (He still has a chance)
3 91 NaVorro Bowman LB Penn State -- A+ (Out-of-this-world athlete. Arguably outperformed Willis last year)
6 173 Anthony Dixon RB Mississippi State -- B (Solid contributor and special teams player)
6 182 Nate Byham TE Pittsburgh -- B (A good blocking TE with some ability. Hurt last year)
6 206 Kyle Williams WR Arizona State -- A- (Great pick in the 6th round)
7 224 Phillip Adams DB South Carolina State -- B (Made the roster and contributed for a year)

11
1 7 Aldon Smith LB Missouri -- A+
2 36 Colin Kaepernick QB Nevada-Reno -- No grade (Don't want to debate, and we don't know enough yet)
3 80 Chris Culliver DB South Carolina -- A (A very talented player)
4 115 Kendall Hunter RB Oklahoma State -- A (Another very talented player)
5 163 Daniel Kilgore G Appalachian State -- B (Haven't seen him play a whole lot yet)
6 182 Ronald Johnson WR USC -- F (We needed WR's, but he didn't even make the practice squad, which is kind of amazing because he had good worth ethic, character and no injuries)
6 190 Colin Jones DB Texas Christian -- B+ (Becoming a special teams player-maker)
7 211 Bruce Miller RB Central Florida -- A+ (How on earth did we pull this off?)
7 239 Mike Person G Montana State -- No grade (Don't know enough yet)
7 250 Curtis Holcomb DB Florida A&M -- No grade (Don't know enough yet)

For the last couple years, I've said we are one of the most talented teams in the league. Now, there is no more doubt about that. We still have some issues to debate however. Hopefully those debates will be settled sooner rather than later.
Last 2 drafts have been pretty impressive a few players are sorta of on wait and see status. So far Baalke has done a great job he hits those late round picks which truly shows if a GM is handling his business. I'm really excited about this years draft, seeing as we have a much more competent FO i feel we are going to get some steals in this draft

Damn. I remember watching every draft from 2000-2011, when I really got into watching the draft every year. Carmamzzi is a local guy here in NY, went to Hofstra, hoped he would turn out. That was one of Bill Walsh's last drafts. 2001, Barlow was a good pick for a few years, till Gore got here.

03- A.Williams, 04- Hamilton, 06- B.Williams make me want to puke. Coffee in 09 makes me also wanna puke, guy quit on us. Reggie Smith was a good player in college, but shouldn't of been a 3rd rd guy.

07 was our best draft in the past 10 years. 5 Starters(McDonald, Staley, Brown, Willis and Goldson).

2010 and 2011 will turn out good too. Davis/Iupati/Bowman in 2010 is a nice trio, with Aldon/Culliver/Hunter/Miller and potentially Kilgore as all contributers in 2012, plus Jones on STs. In 2 years Baalke has done what McCloughan and Donahue couldn't do. Get players with talent, worth the pick and played up to the pick.

Off topic, do you have a mock on here AB? I wanna see how a non bay area draft guy places Fleener.

Had a mock done a few weeks back, had Fleener I believe at 32 to NYG, had Hill to us at 30. Working on a new updated one.

Cool. I'll be looking out for it.
