Should, but wont, Voters all will look at Cam and his season record in passing yards and rush TDs as a rookie.

I think they pick both an offensive and defensive rookie of the year. Cam Newton will get the offensive award. I am cheering for Aldon for the DROY.

Aldon should have had it his third week as well. Cam had a decent game but i thought the 2.5 sacks on a national stage was a sexier showing than Cam's. Mayby homerism on my part?

Through 15 weeks, 75 rookies have been nominated for Pepsi's Rookie of the Week.
Two defensive rookies have been nominated for the award three times: Von Miller (weeks 7, 10, and 11) and Aldon Smith (weeks 4, 5, and 15).
Patrick Peterson, defense and special teams, was also nominated three times (weeks 1, 9, and 12).
Ryan Kerrigan was nominated twice (weeks 1 and 10).
A defensive player has won the award four times in 15 weeks.
Colin McCarthy won in week 13 and Marcell Dareus won in week 8.
Aldon Smith won the award in weeks 5 and 6.
Aldon Smith was the only defensive player to win the award twice.
In contrast, three offensive players have won the award twice: Andy Dalton, Denarius Moore, and Cam Newton.
Typically defensive players adapt to the pro game faster than offensive guys.
