I myself was mouthing the words Johnny Patrick when Chris Culliver's name was called by the Niners. Patrick who was selected 8 spots later by the Saints will always be compered to Culliver. Interesting though that after the run of 6 CB's in the bottom of the 3rd round many teams reached a round or 2 on CB's after that point.

I wanted Patrick as well.

We'll just have to see how it plays out. But our track record drafting DBs is not that great. And since Baalke was our head scout under McCloughin, I'm looking at all the DBs we've picked since 2005. It's not a great list....

Well they worked out Johnny Patrick the other day. I guess the staff didn't like what they saw.

Or they had Culliver higher on their draft board.
Reach and draft disappointment. Isn't it mostly Niners not taking our favorite players (team/conference/state/high school) and a Niners scouting team seeing it different than Mel's take??

We all like to bring up our whiff on Alex. Mel had him ranked higher than Rodgers. We all got good grades on that pick. Green Bay didn't get slammed only because they picked Rodgers in the 20's. Higher and they would have been labeled with bad grades.

really? you should check your infos again...like i know, he was a WR in his first days and was moved to FS. in 2010 he played about 7 games at CB.
wow...i'm shocked. there are guys out there who want starters out of the draft...that's a dream.
going into the draft for getting starters is simply not realistic.

Those are the people that really watched and understood football, did Montana start? No. Even the GOAT did not start in his first year, he shared time with Freddie Solomon. Dropped a lot of balls too. (can see the zoners of now on this-when the following draft comes up, he only caught fifty something balls and dropped so many, we need to draft AJ Green...sigh.

Plus how do you know if the guy will not start? Albiet the CBA is going to affect this, but in a normal year, does the name Lott, Wright, Williamson ring a bell? Lott was expected, the other were not.
bump
eat crow everyone.

4 key contributers. Aldon, Culliver, Hunter and Miller.

No question about it. Funny to go back and look at the comments after the draft

Colin Jones also had a huge special teams tackle today.
I was one of those haters.............Aldon Smith Chris Culliver Kendall Hunter Bruce Miller as a fullback. I so epic fail.

you hated the Hunter pick? good god, if there was 1 pick I thought had universal support it was that one
I gotta say, I don't really understand why so many people have such strong opinions about the players that we take either way. You'd have to have watched CFB REALLY closely to have seen enough of Aldon Smith to have a strong opinion on him. I'm not quite sure how you'd even form an opinion on a CB from South Carolina like Chris Culliver, being that most of his work happens off screen...and that's assuming that you watch a lot of South Carolina football in the first place.

You can say that about most picks, actually. Frankly I think most of you are full of crap either way when you're either elated or incredibly disappointed about a pick.

It's already turning out to be one of the best drafts in the last 10 years ALREADY.

I rather had Jacquizz Rodgers than Hunter.
