CB Johnny Patrick, Louisville

Yeah, I think we would like to get him in the 3rd round.

We go pass rush in the first 2 rounds with a DE and OLB.

I'd rather go after Nnamdi in FA and use the 3rd rounder on a qb or wr.

Patrick is probably a mid-third rounder, and not much more. Just not as athletic as many of the taller CB's on the board, and is probably stuck in a numbers game behind a bunch of second rounders: House, Brown, Williams, and Skrine.

At 5'10 1/2", his 32" vertical and slow shuttle time is a concern.

I think the shock riser in the draft at CB is Buster Skrine. He ran exceptionally well in drills at the combine, and his footwork was as solid as any person in Indy. While most pundits have him as a 4th rounder at this point, I think scouts will pound the table for a second round selection.

To me, the forty is an important tool for CB's, but shuttle times and cone drill times may even be more important. Skrine had the best cone drill time of any CB.

Seems like some good 2nd/3rd round talent at CB

btw..Is Chekwa, Ohio st. in that area also? I enjoyed watching him play

Agreed -- I originally had him tabbed as a 4th, but considering the plethora of Corner-hungry teams (especially with Oakland being one of them), I think his projection is going to have to be altered to no later than the top of the 3rd round.

I watched him a couple games and he came across as a gambler. He got burned on occasion but was pretty solid looking the rest of the time.

There was that off field issue (apparently pushed a woman down) so the Niners may just be doing due diligence on it by talking to him at dinner.

3rd round he would be a good pickup potentially. Depends who else is on the board (how is that for hedging).
