NFL Draft - 1. S. Bradford - QB 2. N. Suh - DT 3. G. McCoy - DT 4. R. Okung - OT 5. B. Bulaga - OT 6. T. Williams - OT 7. E. Berry - S 8. A. Davis - OT 9. J. Clausen - QB 10. C. Spiller - RB/KR 11. R. McClain - ILB 12. D. Williams - NT 13. Joe Haden - CB 14. D. Morgan - DE 15. K. Wilson - CB/KR 16. J. Pierre-Paul - DE 17. C. Brown - OT 49ers Draft - R1: Joe Haden - CB - Florida - S. Spencer is an outstanding #2 CB on our football team. Brown is a development #3 that could elevate his game to the #2 level. Nate Clements is a huge question mark in our secondary. The fact that he fell out of Singletary and Manusky's favor is telling. With a defense that is good at run support, the pass defense clearly needs an upgrade. With the ability to land the best prospect at the position at #13, I don't think Baalke will hesitate to make this pick. Haden demonstrates smooth and fluid foot movement and consistently good man coverage - something missing from our secondary. The main question lies on Nate Clements. While previously he has publicly stated that he doesn't want to play FS, the coaching staff may ask him to play some safety in the pre-season as a try out. If Manusky can use Capers idea of Woodson playing CB and FS positions in Green Bay for Nate Clements, then I can see our pass defense immensely improved. R1: Charles Brown - OT - USC (F/ Panthers) - The era of Adam Snyder at RT is over. Thank god. As stated in many scouting reports and posts on the webzone (OTC and Maddog), Brown is very similar to Joe Staley's development as an offensive tackle. Solid balance in terms of pass and run blocking, Brown can be coached up to excel at the next level. He's got good height and a frame that can add at least 10-15 pounds with no effects on his play. The main concern is having two raw prospects on the right side - but that will be Solari's job to fix. R2: Koa Misi - DE/OLB - Utah - The goal of the first few rounds is to get players that will make an immediate impact on the field and further develop into starters - a motto that Baalke believes in. One of the main limiting factors on our defense is the WILL position - Parys Haralson. Now while Haralson is a good situational starter and role player, his inconsistently in tackling, blitzing, and coverage make him a huge liability on the field. Misi has outstanding tackling ability as evident by his production and form at the college level. He's also got fluid hip and leg movement for a man of his size. All in all, Misi provides a substantial upgrade at the OLB position to make us four deep. R3: Mike Johnson - OG/OT - Alabama - The 49ers staff is not impressed with David Baas's tenure with the 49ers. The injuries and inconsistency with his performances have made the 49ers look at other options at the position - specifically Chester Pitts. With Solari and Brown as OL coaches, the 49ers may feel more comfortable opting for younger options. Johnson is a versatile and powerful offensive linemen. He got good form, good strength, and good strength...he's just very good. He can also play the RT position if necessary. At worst, he's a good utility player and borderline starter. At best, he'll be an outstanding LG for years to come. R4: Myron Rolle - S - Florida State - It seems as though as the 49ers want a younger and speedier version of Mike Lewis in the secondary: someone who is a sound tackler and play disciplined football day in and day out. Rolle fits that bill. R6: Colin Peek - TE - Alabama - Good red-zone target and blocking specialist project player at the NFL level. R6: Micah Johnson - ILB - Kentucky (Comp.) - TED prospect. R7: Brandon James - RB/WR - Florida - The Kory Sheets/Jacoby Ford type of the later rounds. James has experience at PR and KR duties as well. A nice low-cost, low-risk pick near the end of the draft. Probable Position Battles: FB: Norris vs. young prospects TE: Curtis vs. Peek (r) WR: Hill vs. Ginn LG: Baas vs. Johnson (r) OLB: Lawson vs. Brooks OLB: Haralson vs. Misi (r) ILB: Wilhem vs. Johnson (r) CB: Clements vs. Haden (r)

The more i look at Rolle, The more i lean towards Haden at #13 (if available)

Do you think Earl Thomas will be there at 13? Because I'd rather draft a guy with more versatility, personally.

Are there even any good kickers in this draft? I haven't seen anyone really worthwhile, although I haven't looked very hard.

I don't know man, I'm not sure what other position I'd look at since that mock tries to take care of every single one

And what do you think about Maiocco tweeting that Baalke might not be as high on C.Brown as Scott was?

I think Earl Thomas slips a bit because of his size. I also like Earl Thomas, but I think as a pure CB, Haden is a lot better in terms of talent and potential, especially if we can find a way to put Clements at FS on those 3rd and long passing situations.

4-2-5 Scheme:

LB: Lawson-Willis

DB: Haden-Harris-Clements-Goldson-Spencer

if we landed Rolle in the 4th, I would seriously love this...

if the guy stays in school or comes out after his junior year rather than go for his rhodes scholar, he is legitimately a 1st or 2nd round pick either last year or this year..

people are too caught up on him leaving football for a year, for a guy that smart i really doubt he lost anything.

I think the fear is that Rolle will leave football early in order to pursue his career as a neurosurgeon. I expect Rolle to be done with the NFL no later than age 30, perhaps even at the culmination of his rookie contract. The guy is talented no doubt, but teams just don't know how long he'll stick around.

You forgot Ted Ginn's postion battle. I assume he battles for the #3 or #4 WR too. So that would be what?... Jason Hill or Brandon Jones vs. Ted Ginn Jr.
