Not sure if this is a case for or against Spiller, but this draft seems pretty weak at running back compared to other recent ones. It’s fairly deep for OTs (which is good news for us) and defense, but sketchy at the offensive skill positions. 2009 draft had Beanie Wells, Knowshon Moreno, Shonn Greene, James Davis, Javon Ringer, Lesean McCoy, Donald Brown, Rashad Jennings, Andre Brown, even Arian Foster had a good year. 2008 was a monster year: Chris Johnson, Darren Mcfadden, Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Stewart, Felix Jones, Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, Steve Slaton, Matt Forte, Tashard Choice, Mike Hart. This year it’s Spiller and Best, who aren’t really 3-down backs, Jonathan Dwyer, Toby Gerhart, Ryan Mathews, then it gets sketchy (McKnight, Hardesty, etc.). To me, this suggests two things: 1) Spiller will go earlier than he might have; 2) we should grab him at 13 if he makes it that far, then take an OT at 16/17. Thoughts?

Both of these guys aren't legit NFL RBs...heck, they were barely legit college RBs. They're more special teamers/gadget-type players or possibly backup slot WRs depending on their hands.

Yeah, it's a pretty weak year for RBs. I'm glad, this is great for us. I wish all the bad years for positions always lined up with which positions we don't need.

I was just talking about a backup special teams plan if we don't get Spiller
