why would we cut clements hes a solid CB

backloaded contract + aging player = more likely to get cut with every passing year

I'd like him to stay but the beat writers seem to think he'll have to restructure so we'll see about that.

I would like Clements to restructure his contract & stay here.

I post this a lot and will continue to do so. Clemens is not making that much money.
The top CB salary in the league in 2009 was $13.2 million. Franchise tag money for a CB is $9.5 million and the transition tag amount is $8 million. The 10th highest paid CB made $6 million this year.

Here are the numbers for Clement's contract:

Salary
2009--$3.5 million
2010--$6 million
2011--$7.25 million
2012--$9 million
2013--$10.77 million
2014--$15.5 million

2014 is a voidable year. Clements will never see that money. $3.5 million is not even top 20 CB money. The 2010 salary of $6 million doesn't even crack top 10 money. 2011 and 2012 and 2013 are probably close to top 10 but excessively so.

Nate had a top 10 year in 2007. 2008 his performance fell off. 2009 he was on pace for another top 10 or 15 year before he got hurt. Unless he experiences a huge drop off in production over the next couple of years there's no need to restructure his contract until 2011 at the earliest.

I should just put this in a word document and save it since I look up this information so often.

I like Arenas as a return guy, not a corner. He's just too short for today's game. Maybe a dime guy, but I don't like any corner that I'm bigger than.

Feel the same way. Solid post. Everyone makes it sound like he plays like Mike Rumph and getting paid like a top 5 CB.
Yeah and it's not like we have to worry about a salary cap either, so who cares how much Nate makes. The measurements for the Senior Bowl are in:

Javier Arenas: 5'08" 195lbs
Perrish Cox: 5'11" 185 lbs
