Why the 49ers go after Tim Tebow in 2010

Does anyone else look at Tebow and see Joe Kapp? Tough-as-nails, refuse-to-lose, inspirational, vocal, tough runner, unorthodox passing form, winner.

Joe Kapp once threw for 7 TD's in a single NFL game, and took his team to the Super Bowl.

So, yeah, count me among those who believe that Tebow can be a winning NFL QB, whether it's for the Niners or some other NFL club.

hell no. i just don't think he's gonna be that good in the nfl. do we really want another urban meyer qb?

I remember a lot of people on here didnt want Aaron Rodgers because he'd be "another Tedford QB"

Exactly. I even fell for that one.

HELL NO, he reminds me of Alex Smith, gimmick offense, no thx.

He doesn't remind me of Alex Smith at all. Their builds are different. Plus, a lot of QBs in college are running gimmick offenses now.

bradford reminds me of smith. What kinda bugs me about tebow is his slow release. He's gotta wind up so much to launch a deep pass.

Development will be his key, just as it was for Alex and for Rodgers. Rodgers was developed properly, Smith wasn't and we know smith needed more help than Rodgers. Tebow might be somewhere between.

I'll have to watch some more Florida games to see if I notice anything different.

You can't teach accuracy and that's what Tebow is sorely missing. On top of that, he is a total douche.

He's completed over 60 percent of his passes in each of the three seasons he's played. I don't see your argument.

60% in a gimmick offense. Look at his throws, not the numbers. He has an occasional nice throw but he throws a LOT of low, high, and behind balls to wide open receivers. He doesn't have that elite accuracy like a Drew Brees, Tom Brady, or Peyton Manning.

I've watched his games and the only thing I would say right now is that he has good accuracy but doesn't have a cannon arm.
Mechanics... mechanics... what a mess.
Has he been playing under center at all as mentioned in the off season by Urban Myer?

What was the point in drafting Nate Davis then? IMO his fundamentals just look better than Tebow's.
We have our QBOTF, Nate Davis. Use the 1st round picks on a pass rusher and an OT.

"I want winners!"- Mike Singletary

Tim Tebow is strictly that, a winner.

I went to Nease highschool while Tebow was quarterback and was witness to his greatness many times. The dude once broke his leg in the 3rd quarter only to stay in the game and run a 27 yard touchdown in the 4th to tie the game. He led us to a championship victory in 2005 on a season where our only loss came to the # 2 ranked team in the nation Hoover Highschool. Tebow brought the school from a 2-8 season to a championship. He did that by making those around him stronger through courage and the spirit of winning. This guy knows how to motivate a team to win. He brought the gators back to beat Oklahoma in the BCS championship. Did you see him get fired up in the locker room? This guy is legendary and he needs to be on our roster next season, we wont regret using a 1st rounder on him.

Heres something else you wont regret, check this out

I'm pretty sure its physically impossible to run on a broken leg.

Especially for a highschool kid......

Actually it was a pretty serious break, he hobbled and dove into the endzone.

Watch this video from 1:30 on. It will show the injury, the TD run, and the x-ray.

smith sucks cuz of his slow ass release and bad mechanics. Tebow seems to have all the tools to produce in the NFL. I dont see why everyone is so hell bent on knocking the dude.

People are just so focused that Tebow is playing under Urban Meyer just like Alex Smith. That doesn't mean that Tebow and Alex are the same player. Tebow plays with a lot more emotion and seems to have that "never lose" attitude just like Jeff Garcia. He's won the Heisman, won games and national championships against some very tough opponents. He brings the energy and sets the tone. That's a great player to have on your team.
