SuperBowl Mock Draft

Free agency: I expect the Niners to pursue the following free agents

Own FA

Jimmy G
Coyle

OL Ryan Jensen C
RT- Austin Pazstor (ATL) 6'7, 308
DE- Trent Murphy

Trades

Denver sends CB- Aquib Talib & a 4th to 49ers for Arik Armstead

Bucs send 3rd & conditional 2019 pick for Ward

SF trades 9th overall to Bills for their 21st overall, 3rd, 5th and next years 1st.

1st f/ Bills- Arden Key-
DE Arden Key*, DE, LSU
Height: 6-5. Weight: 260.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Projected Round (2018): 1-2.
1/13/18: Team sources still have Key as high first-rounder and think he could be a devastating pass-rusher in the NFL. In a survey of league sources, Key was considered to be among the elite talents of this draft class. However, teams have major off-the-field concerns with Key and think they could cause him to slide in the 2018 NFL Draft. While there are concerns, scouts also say that Key loves football and has worked on his own with pass-rushing guru Chuck Smith to develop his skills. Key has to interview extremely well in order to be a high pick.

2nd- from Saints
Jaire Alexander*, CB, Louisville
Height: 5-11. Weight: 188.
Projected 40 Time: 4.42.
Projected Round (2018): 1-3.
12/9/17: Alexander missed four games because of a knee injury early in the year, and then dealt with a broken hand that caused him to miss two more games. When on the field, Alexander has played well with 19 tackles, four passes broken up and an interception.

9/1/17: Alexander was very good for Louisville in 2016, racking up 39 tackles with nine passes broken up and five interceptions. He also was a dangerous punt returner. There is a lot of upside for Alexander to develop.

3rd from Bucs
Braden Smith, G, Auburn
Height: 6-6. Weight: 303.
Projected 40 Time: 5.31.
Projected Round (2018): 2-3.
12/9/17: Smith is a solid player who is well-balanced as a run blocker and pass protector. In Week 2, he was beaten for a sack by Clemson's Christian Wilkins, a future first-round pick, but Smith also had a lot of nice plays against Wilkins and Clemson nose tackle Dexter Lawrence. Since then Smith has been rock solid for the Tigers. He has a pro skill set with size, strength and athleticism. Sources say that Smith is receiving second-day grades for the 2018 NFL Draft.

3rd- from Bears-
Rashaad Penny, RB, San Diego State
Height: 5-11. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.61.
Projected Round (2018): 2-4.
1/13/18: Penny ran well as a senior, using his size to roll over a lot of weak opponents. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry for 2,248 yards with 23 touchdowns, plus made 19 receptions for 135 yards and two scores. As a junior, Penny averaged 7.4 yards per carry for 1,005 yards with 11 touchdowns. He caught 15 passes for 224 yards and three scores that season as well.

3rd- trade for future 2nd & current 5th

3rd from Bills
Desmond Harrison, OT, West Georgia
Height: 6-7. Weight: 300.
Projected 40 Time: 5.10.
Projected Round (2018): 2-3.
1/22/18: Harrison was part of the Texas program before being dismissed by then-coach Charlie Strong. Failed drug tests were the reason for Harrison's dismissal. He landed at West Georgia, where he has played well for the Wolves. Team sources say that Harrison has the skill set of a first- or second-round pick. He has NFL size, quickness, athleticism and length. Team sources say they don't think Harrison will get out of the second day of the 2018 NFL Draft and that his stock could catch fire at the Senior Bowl.

4th from Denver
Chad Thomas, DE, Miami
Height: 6-6. Weight: 265.
Projected 40 Time: 4.78.
Projected Round (2018): 3-4.
1/13/18: Thomas totaled 30 tackles with 8.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks in 2017. Sources tell me that Thomas is really talented physically, but he hasn't put it all together on the field. There have been flashes of excellence and stretches of doing nothing while looking clueless. They say that Thomas lacks instincts as well. However because of his great skill set, grades are going to be all over the board on Thomas.

Round 4 Pick 128
Nathan Shepherd-DT/NT-Fort Hays State
Nathan Shepherd*, DT, Fort Hays State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 300.
Projected 40 Time: 5.25.
Projected Round (2018): 4-6.
1/13/18: Shepherd is one of the Division II products who did well enough to earn a Senior Bowl invitation. In 2017, he totaled 38 tackles with 12.5 for a loss and four sacks. Shepherd had 61 tackles with three sacks in 2016 and 69 tackles with three sacks in 2015. The long and heavy Shepherd has versatile size for the NFL with the ability to play tackle in a 4-3 and the length to play end in a 3-4 defense. Shepherd has a great opportunity to rise with an impressive performance in Mobile.

5th- from Jets
Alex Cappa, OT, Humboldt State
Height: 6-7. Weight: 305.
Projected 40 Time: 5.14.
Projected Round (2018): 4-6.
1/6/18: Coming from a Division II school, Cappa did well enough to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. He has the size to play tackle in the NFL, and it will be interesting to see how he does against better competition. The defenders in Mobile will provide a gauge on if Cappa has the quickness to handle speed rushers and the strength to take on power. Given the weak tackle class, Cappa has a good opportunity to rise.

5th- from Bills
Matthew Thomas*, ILB, Florida State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 227.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Projected Round (2018):
1/13/18: Thomas is a fast and athletic linebacker who has a good skill set, but teams evaluators have said they are grading Thomas on the third day of the 2018 NFL Draft because of a lack of instincts and awareness. In 2017, Thomas had 85 tackles with two passes batted, two sacks and an interception. The senior has a good athletic skill set and probably could help himself in pre-draft workouts, but his 2017 tape hasn't impressed evaluators. He had another year of eligibility, but decided to enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

5th- from trade down in 3rd
Caleb Wilson**, TE, UCLA
Height: 6-5. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.69.
Projected Round (2018):
12/30/17: Wilson recorded 38 receptions for 490 yards and a touchdown in 2017 before suffering a season-ending foot injury. He was a dangerous receiving weapon for Josh Rosen. Wilson is like a taller, bigger Jordan Reed in terms of his style of play.

SF 6th-
Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond
Height: 6-3. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
Projected Round (2018): 6-FA.
1/22/18: Lauletta was able to earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. In 2017, he completed 65 percent of his passes for 3,737 yards with 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Lauletta was the starter as a junior and sophomore. He will need a big Senior Bowl to get drafted.

6th-
Siran Neal, S, Jacksonville State
Siran Neal, S, Jacksonville State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 205.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Projected Round (2018):
12/9/17: Neal is a small-school prospect who scouts have said has impressed them this fall. The senior is a a quality run defender and some coverage skills. Playing cornerback, he totaled 39 tackles with 11 passes broken up, a forced fumble, and an interception in 2017. As a junior, he recorded 80 tackles with 11.5 tackles for a loss, .5 sacks, four passes batted, one forced fumble and an interception.

Jacksonville State had Neal playing corner, but scouts say that for the NFL, he projects to safety as he is kind of tight. However, he is a physical and aggressive defender who would fit safety well. They think Neal could be at least a good backup and special teams contributor. Neal could further improve his draft stock by excelling at an all-star game in January. He will have the opportunity to do just that after accepting an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

SF 7th -
Jamal Peters, CB, Mississippi St.
Jamal Peters*, CB, Mississippi State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 218.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2018):
12/9/17: Peters has been sound in coverage for the Bulldogs in 2017, recording 23 tackles with two breakups and an interception returned 90 yards for a touchdown. As a sophomore, he had 18 tackles with two passes broken up and two interceptions. Peters notched 25 tackles with two passes broken up as a freshman in 2015. Peters is a big cornerback who fits as a press-man candidate for the NFL.

SF 7th-
Brandon Facyson, CB, -
Brandon Facyson, CB, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-2. Weight: 191.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Projected Round (2018): 6-FA.
12/9/17: In 2017, Facyson has 16 tackles with five passes broken up.

9/1/17: Facyson totaled 48 tackles with 11 passes broken up and two forced fumbles in 2016. Sources said that Facyson received late-round grades before he decided to return for his senior year. In 2015, he had 31 tackles with 10 passes broken up. Facyson only played in three games in 2014 after struggling with a lingering knee injury suffered in spring practice. He was an impact-making player for the Hokies in 2013. As a freshman, Facyson recorded 27 tackles with five interceptions and eight passes broken up.

Mavin Saunders*, TE, Florida State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 257.
Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
Projected Round (2018): 7-FA.
12/2/17: Saunders hasn't recorded a catch yet in 2017.

7/17/17: Sources have told me that Saunders is a ridiculous talent, as in early rounds-of-the-draft talent, but hasn't been productive yet. In 2016, Saunders caught 10 passes for 182 yards. He's a potential breakout player to watch; sources have raved about his skill set.

Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
Projected Round (2018): 6-FA.
2/3/18: Turay had a solid week at the Senior Bowl, showing some ability to rush the passer off the edge. He was able to get some wins in the one-on-ones by using his speed to run by blockers. Turay will need to get stronger in the run game. In the early going of his NFL career, he could compete to earn a roster spot as a backup designated pass-rusher in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense. In 2017, Turay totaled four sacks and 58 tackles.

I seriously doubt the Niners take the chance on Key and Talib. Both are toxic players. They don't seem like Lynch kind of players.

I also don't think there is any way that TB gives us a 3rd for Ward. He has no value at all. I think a 5th or 6th is likely. Put it this way, would you be happy if we traded a 3rd for an oft injured DB? I wouldn't.

Key and Talib, I believe are worth the gamble. Key is a top 10 talent at a premium position. Reports states he loves football.
Talib is just a stop gap player 1-2 years, while we groom a replacement.

As for Ward, we would be fortunate to get a 3rd. Never know. Stranger things have happened. Although I think a 4th or 5th is definitely attainable.
We gave up a 5th for L Tomlinson from Detroit and they considered him a bust.

Love what you did with trades. You took a lot of dbs. I'm a big fan of all of them especially Neal. Adding Key and Talib is risky but the reward would be immense.
You added lots of talent to this roster in your mock nice work, how realistic this mock is would be debatable just like all the mocks on this board.
Thank you for this read.

Thanks I appreciate it. Yes most mocks are not likely to happen, just enjoying the process. Helps me learn more about the college players and who we actually draft.
Since you were apparently using Walter football draft positions I say you did a good job. Walter needs to update his later rounds cause a lot of guys u got later and undrafted will be getting drafted earlier.
14 draft picks? Sorry but our team is closer to contending than you think and they don't need a tidal wave of young talent this year. They need another similar class of contributors like last year mixed with a few veteran free agents to fill in the blanks. Don't think bad actors like Key and Talib fit what Lynch and Shanna are trying to build here. Sorry, dude. There is no way this kind of offseason will happen.

We can always use young talent. I got several pass rushers and OL and CB's, all weak areas which are now possible strengths. Also trading back, we got a extra 1st and 2nd next year.
I don't think most mocks get more than 1 or 2 picks right. I guess we will see what happens.
