SunDevil's Big Board 2017

Pretty solid. Anybody else think the Cook will be better than Fournette?
You don't seem to be as high on the Cornerbacks coming out this year as most people

Back to trying to put one together. I've made attempts over the years, but never really finished one. I don't know where some people find the time! I obviously have a ton more players to go through. A few I need to take a second look, like Haasan Reddick I'm not getting the hype so I'll try to look more at him. I focused on RBs and QBs and about done with all those guys I will look at. Rest of the positions, ton more to look at.

If a player isn't listed, its because I haven't finished working on where I'd rank them.

I also wouldn't put too much stock into exact rankings (ie why is he #15 and not #14!). I think a lot of these prospects are very similar talent levels and it just depends on a team's scheme and preference. The top 3 DTs, you can pick anyone as your favorite legitimately. Brantley, however, has the most risk. But if Brantley puts it all together, watch out.

Rankings based on talent, not where they will go. For example, I do not expect Fournette to go #2.

Anyway you can go into detail about why you ranked the 1st round QBs where they were ranked? Like what do you see in Patrick Mahomes that you dont see in the other QBs for him to be ranked before Tribusky and Watson.

Mahomes - best natural arm by far, one of the best in years. Capable of making all throws. Excellent touch on his deep passes. Can adjust throwing motion with ease. Great natural IQ, can react instinctively to make plays. Has poor footwork but due to outstanding arm strength gets away with it. Will need to sit a year to become more of a system QB delivering ball in 2-3 seconds. Has excellent release speed. Takes too many hits, can be worn down by defense. Air raid offense doesn't require him to develop sense of timing on routes. May have delayed development but once he arrives, potential to be perennial pro bowler

Tribusky - I don't like his mechanics pre throw, delayed delivery, at times has a wind up. Plays in an easy offense that often breaks the field down to a small area to read. His ball lacks velocity, is ne worried about him gunning it in small window. Deep ball has way too much air, NFL Db's will eat it up. He does many thing well but not great. I don't like 1 year starters.

Watson - excellent intangibles and leadership, puts his team in his back and delivers. Proven clutch performer. Has great arm strength but is inconsistent. Too often ball sails high on his throws, some accuracy issues. Legwork falls apart at times, has consistency issues. Often a 1 read player
Reuben Foster will not make it to the 2nd round.
Combine or no combine.
Guarantee.
You have a few guys that you are way higher on than I am. Would you explain what you like so I can look more into them?

5. Taco Charlton, Edge (More of a 2nd rounder to me)
9. Caleb Brantley,DT (I don't think he is better than Bullard that got drafted way later)

And you have one way lower:

6th or later
49. Brad Kaaya, QB (everyone hates on this guy but I see 2nd - 3rd round potential)

Brantley - Boom or Bust prospect. His ceiling is highest out of DTs. Why? Because his quick twitch athleticism off the snap, excellent use of quick hands, has explosive strength, great foot speed. drawbacks? Not a high motor guy, is quickly worn out, doesn't finish plays, not an every-snap player at the college level. He basically can look like Aaron Donald the first 2-3 seconds after the snap, and then dissapears.

Taco - Another guy whose high marks are mostly based on his potential, not where his game is currently at. You just wont find many players with his length, strength and quickness. I think he has the potential to be a dominant 4-3 end

Brad Kaaya - I thought he had a delayed delivery and some inconsistent accuracy. As a positive, I think he displayed one of the better abilities to go through progressions and reading a defense quickly. I'm just not confident he can make enough NFL quality throws.

I'll have to look for those qualities in Brantley.

I still don't see it in Taco but i'll have to try and project what he can become more. I didn't like L. Floyd much last year and sounds like he is being compared to him so I could be wrong on this call.

Sometimes you see some of the best throws from Kaaya I feel. I can throw a very nice, tight spiral into small spaces that make you go wow sometimes. Other times he looks like a bonehead.
Interesting you have Kelly over kizer. I'm curious why is that?

Maybe you didn't read the part where I said its not a prediction of where they will go....hence why I could care less if a payer is a "riser"

Reddick or Peterman could, and likely will, go much earlier then where I rank them. That is not the point of my ranking.
