Why? You're simplifying a complex situation with moving parts. Perhaps you should
minimize the amount of self identity you've attached to the team. Will help your perspective.
I'm typically not too reactionary, but imo, he's right.
I'm of the opinion that everyone we let go, outside of Greenlaw and Collins, was the right move. Ive been mock drafting since last year as if Huf, Ward, Juice etc were all gone. I dont disagree with the bulk of the departures. But you can't ignore that they decided to let Greenlaw walks, and they decided that the finite number of difference making free agents available in this weaker class were not worth the money.
This roster is striped. I can't see how this is anything other that a total rebuild, outside of QB, on a 3 year timeline (it started last year). Mock drafting isn't fun anymore, because it is no longer about plugging gaps in the roster...the entire roster is being turned over. I hope they focus on trenches...if the player being drafted isn't expected to be a cornerstone player, it better be a trench player.
I can't imagine Trent williams is a part of this plan. And I wouldn't be surprised if Aiyuk is moved (what a failure). I think niner fans are in for a long year, and so we have to recalibrate expectations. I'm not looking at this as a competitive year. Now, once disappointment and sadness wear off, I'll be using this season to gauge how much optimism can be afforded for our 1st and 2nd year players.
The one head scratcher is the Jordan Mason tender.
