Just was reading an article about Robbie Gould and found out his contract is expiring with the Niners. Saw this kid many times this year and he would be a great replacement for Gould IMO. Definitely has a big leg and would help our special teams with his 66% touchback rate in addition to his place kicking. This does strike me as kind of dumb. Why wouldn't you have at least one assistant that actually specializes in kicking?

I've had my doubts about Moody during his rookie season. If I remember right his successful kicks were not always smooth sailing. Some would jerk suddenly in another direction before it went through the uprights. That looked to me like a mechanics issue.

He kicked fine at Michigan. His issues aren't physical, they're mental. If he gets his mind right then there's no reason he can't thrive there.

Because theres no point in spending or wasting resources in "developing" a kicker. They either can make kicks or they can't. It's a very binary outcome job. You can't develop a kickers leg. You can't make a kicker more accurate, really. It's an individual job that is only between the ball and kicker.

Does the NBA have many assistants that specialize in free throws ?

Yes. Free throws are just open shots.

If NOBODY is coaching you, and you can't have a private coach, how do you improve?

I disagree with this. Most of the top successful kickers in this league don't peak until their 30s. Thats why you see kickers on their 2nd or 3rd teams before they finally hit their stride and find a "home" for 5+ years.

That's also why i would never draft a kicker in the top 5 rounds. Should have just kept Joey Slye.

He should work that knuckle ball like the Rams kicker for the kickoff. That's almost impossible to handle. Because if there is one thing he is good at it's a natural knuckle ball. He doesn't have to try hard for that.
