NIce guy, and I want him to dominate, but he's too shaky.Even his successful kicks do not inspire confidence. There's something off about how the ball travels off his foot, or something. I do not trust him to make kicks. And the fact that he's seeing a sports psychologist is kind of weird. you want a kicker with ice water in his veins, not one who seeks therapy for kicking.

I hope I'm wrong. It's a weird situation. He's good enough to keep the rollercoaster on the tracks, but also bad enough that every shank ignites the fan-base.
I think they will go into the season with him, and it's only a matter of time before this thing goes off the rails.

I remind myself Gould was a luxury and it'll be next to impossible to find someone that good again.

Moody's 59-yd fg for the win looked pretty good for me.

Agreed, I wasn't intending to insult Moody. I have always pulled for him, but he has been inconsistent whereas Gould I believe had one important miss that I can recall (and later made the game winner) so I think that's a tough shadow to escape for most fans.

I believe some fans will never be happy until he hits three 74 yarders a game for 3 weeks straight. Even then someone will still blame him for the SB loss.
This is how I see it. Take last game for example, every time Moody went to kick, I held my breath. I don't like that feeling & I don't think anyone else does. But every time Carlson went to kick, I knew it was good. Kinda like how it was when we had gold Gould. That's how I want to feel. Don't give a dam anymore that he was a 3rd rounder or whatever. Just get a kicker that is consistent and someone that instills confidence in everyone when they step out on the field.

Carlson is a FA at seasons end.

Judging by the reaction his teammates, that kick was a big deal.

49ers rn are great about uplifting and supporting their teammates. It wouldn't be such a big deal if he just has not sucked so badly. Those kicks may have saved his ass, why not be happy for him? But..it is just so inconsistent.

I hope so. One less problem we have to deal with.

This dude is going to cause the 49ers to lose some games this year watch and see. Seen a good name for him today on youtube, "Doink" seems fitting. he missed two in practice today.

heard he was 3/5 today in practice
Can see him having a decent year or bad enough to be cut by week 7
Lacessssss out Dan!!!!!!
Must be in the Cabo Club, so he's here to stay.
You are worried about practice misses now?

5/6 in last game. Made 44 yarder to tie, made 50 yarder, made 59 yarder to win.

That looks great to me.

Didn't look to great last season when the kicks mattered.

I would think practice should be easier, last game has been an outlier. I'm up to keep him this season and see if he can get his groove back but only because there's no one else really better nor has his potential. If he doesn't turn it around this year he's toast
The wild thing is we all know moody will fail and he'll get cut midseason and the front office will all be baffled what happened
