For sure that's better. Mayfield may even start when he learns the system for a few weeks. Or maybe not. But he would compete for it.

Guys, what do you expect the man to say? "we love him, we want to bring him in", then find out that another team put a claim above us and we end up looking dumb and annoy our current players?

We'll find out around this time tomorrow. Until then all we will get is this type of anodyne comments.

But if you listen to Shanahan's interviews on player interest you kinda sense if the 9ers are interested or not.

I'm not saying they are or they're not (or indeed, whether they should be). I'm just saying that reading the tea leaves makes no sense when we are so low in the waiver wire order. We only need to wait 24 hours. We don't need to guess. We'll find out.

How much can baker possibly cost? I'm sure he's willing to take peanuts to try and salvage his career. With how thin our QB room is and how cursed we've been, we'd be crazy to not get as much insurance as we can

I'd be shocked if we don't put a claim in but doubt we'll get him. Wouldn't expect Shannahan to say anything else as he knows we really don't even have a shot to get him with a lot of other teams needing a QB.

Read somewhere he'll cost 1.5mil. We can afford it.
