Mack is older and injury prone. Why not spend a bit more on best C in free agency. Salary cap problems all start with Trent Williams being resigned. Gonna be tough to outbid teams like jags and colts. Lindsley and Reiff can both be signed for less than signing Williams. Could possibly have money left over for CB Milton. Mack is a good player but had consistently declined last 3 yrs. Not a popular opinion on here but I'm opposed to signing either Mack or Williams.

So sign a much lesser left tackle to sign a slightly better center?

Slightly better center??? You're joking right?? A center who is way past starting to decline. Been on the decline for 3 straight yrs. Why not sign Williams and Mack, take around $28 million of $31 million of cap space. Please don't say that Williams will protect Jimmy G. He was the starting LT last yr and Jimmy still got hurt. Reiff is wayyyyy closer to Williams than Mack is to Lindsley

Williams is among the top 2 LTs and Reiff is barely a starter. At least Mack is still top 15. Also, don't you think Mack will make up for his declining play with system familiarity?
the downgrade at LT is much more than at C in your scenario

Reiff is not barely a starter but will agree to disagree with that. Mack and familiarity with the system can be said about all the centers who play same system. When was the last time that Mack played under KS?? There goes familiarity out the building. Unless KS has had exact same plays for last 8-9 yrs. This is too funny. 3 players. Best center with " system familiarity" starting LT and one of the best slot CBs in football or 1 LT who WILL miss several games and a center who has been on the decline for a good minute. Hmmmm. Weren't most of the team's problems in the super bowl at center and guard?? Ya. Let's just hope this works out well

Agree to disagree on Reiff. I think he's a below average starter. I just hope it all works out too

It will work out fine. Just think that Williams being resigned leads to salary cap hell. Mack is decent at best. I personally would just like best center, one of the best slot corners and then maybe a better LT than Reiff in the 1-2 yr contract range of $12-$14 million per yr. Thanks for the feedback on my very unpopular choices.

The salary cap is a complete non-issue at this point with over 32 mil this year with only 1 contract restructured so far. Trent is a top 3 tackle in the league not even close you resign him ASAP. Have you been watching a lot of Mack film? Just curious how you're so confident he has diminished so much. Also, like linsley is about to get paid a wad of cash himself if much rather have Trent than him.

Sign Mack to a 1 year deal and draft Landon Dickerson and/or Creed Humphrey. Both can play guard or center at a high level and takes over as starter in '22.

Hope he's signed by Tuesday. I say Tuesday, because they're working on Trent Williams and Jason Verrett. Just hope Mack is in their priorities.

Dickerson can be the next 49ers center to retire prematurely due to injury.

Sign Mack so we can have two Mac's on the team after we draft Jones.

I prefer Humphrey but Dickerson has basically shown that he can play really soon. Has he always been known for injuries?
