If this rumor is true im both happy and mad at the 49ers. According to Philly Sports Network and Eagles news NOW, we offered WR D. Pettis for CB Rasul Douglass straight up. Philly turned us down, and countered with Douglass for BREIDA. And according to them, we are mulling it over!!!!! WTF!!??, Im sorry but I'd do this deal in a heartbeat. That's me, IDK why the contemplation from us. We have 4 other capable RB's and can bring in or draft another. Douglass would alleviate the need for us to go CB earl, and give us a jump for next year. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?? Would you do this deal; yes/no and why/why not??

Looks quite possible that they may just end up cutting him. Not my favourite cb by any means.

Team that has been desperate for CB help attempts to trade one of their worst CB's from this past season. I'm not sure I'd even give them Pettis. Is Jordan Matthews still available to be traded? Can we trade a bag of peanuts and a box of surgical masks intsead?

In 2019, however, Douglas' lack of long speed got exposed repeatedly, as he proved that he could not keep pace with the NFL's faster receivers. According to pro-football-reference.com, Douglas gave up 6 TDs, and allowed a passer rating of 115.3, as well as a woeful 9.1 yards per target whenever he was targeted.

In the Eagles' playoff loss to the Seahawks, neither Douglas nor Jones saw a single snap in the regular defense. Instead, the Eagles opted for a lineup of Jalen Mills, Avonte Maddox, and Cre'Von LeBlanc. In theory, the 6'2, 209-pound Douglas should have been a logical matchup against the 6'4, 229-pound DK Metcalf, but Jim Schwartz and his defensive staff obviously felt more comfortable just rolling with the 5'9, 184-Maddox instead.

Why do people want an Eagles CB so badly? Weren't they awful in the secondary last season and had a reason to trade for Slay?

What's the big deal if they traded for him? 9ers would be getting rid of Pettis, at least Douglas has been decent. It's not like Lynch would be giving up picks or signing him to a multi year contract. He would be veteran depth at best, don't see a real problem with that or they can just keep going with Witherspoon.

But has shown flashes of being much better than Witherspoon. Witherspoon was injured and garbage last season, well up until his injury that is. Either way, I like the potential of Douglas over Witherspoon and if the rumor is true the 9ers are thinking the same.

I'd like to know how this rumor was started!!

Witherspoon showed flashes of being good last season as well. I'm not sure I see the upgrade here honestly. Eagles fans want Douglas off the team ASAP, even with how bad their secondary was last season.
