I haven't seen this mentioned yet so forgive me if I'm not the first to say this but we need to trade for Winston now. I know... the immediate fan response is "no" but hear me out. His value is probably as low as it will get (4th or 5th rd pick?) and Shanahan has shown he can turn a season around midway with competent qb play.
Don't get me wrong though, I'm not trading for him to turn the season around. I would trade for Winston now to rehab his value. If Shanahan works his magic and the qb draft market sucks this year you could potentially see Winston's value jump to a 3rd round or more in value. Seems like a move bellichick would make so let's mimic a winner here.
Plus, this would entertain fans and give a spark to the base that has completely checked out on BeatHard.
Agree or disagree?

Why would this be locked? Just a trade topic before trade deadline. Sure the odds of it happening are low but still seems like a worthwhile risk. Disagree?

Winston is tied for the interception lead, having played 4 less games.
I'll stick with Beathard and I'm not a huge fan of CJ.
I'd also rather not waste the draft pick, when we need all the ones we can get.
You can afford to do things like that when you're a perrinial championship team like the Patriots, not a team rebuilding like we are.

1. Wrong Forum
2. Why would we trade for a QB who's failing and is set to make 21 million next year
3. This team isn't going to trade for a guy with his arrest record

He's struggling with Mike Evans and Desean Jackson. I'm sure he'll do great with out weapons.

I'm not a huge fan of Winston either but why I said we would be buying low to try to rehab. In a dream scenario Winston would become the next Sam Bradford.

Ok. I was thinking wrong forum. But point #2 pretty much kills my thought process. That is way more than I thought and for some reason I thought it wasn't guaranteed money. Too much for a gamble on flipping for a pick.

As I added to in the post, we need the draft picks. We're not in the position to trade picks away on a risk like that.
If you trade for Winston, you're trading to play him, not to try to parlay into a future pick.
If this was 2012, sure, go ahead and take the risk, but it's not something we can afford right now.

Better coordinator was my thought process. Might have more luck scheming players open then trying to hit really good receivers that are covered.
