Just saw the tweet from Adam Schefter. Would be a great pickup at this point to compete during the offseason and hedge the Niners bets on Reuben coming back/serving a suspension.

I wanted SF to try and trade for him since last yr lol. (apparently we almost did) His not better than Foster and him and Warner are the future.

At this pt we're set at LB (he's not a SAM) could change with an injury and I'd expect him to wait until something happens to someone in training camp to increase his leverage for cash.

He may be but is he a better fit for the system than Smith? Probably not. Smith was having a great camp (all the coaches were raving about it). He's healthy & knows the system.
But I wouldn't mind Kendricks but at a good price.

Here is an article on Kendricks from the Philadelphia Inquirer. To summarize: Kendricks' play has been declining since he signed a contract extension in 2015, although it was a fairly team-friendly deal. He was unhappy with his minutes getting cut, and the Eagles tried to trade him but couldn't find any takers. They wanted him to take a huge pay cut, and when he refused, they cut him.

A one-year "prove it" deal might be the best thing he can do, but he would probably want consistent playing time.
